Thank you for the quick response I didn't expect an answer at all :-) Thats really disapointing as multiplayer was one of the reasons I bought the game. Is this the same for all the total war games? Is there a way around it?

I'm not sure about all TW games, but NTW had OS cross platform update issues. Basically all multi-players had to be on the same update version of OS or the game would desync as soon as the army spawn set-up timer ran out. I did migrate to PC a year ago because the price point is more attractive.

There are ways around the problem, iMac was envisioned to run other software types when it was developed. Boot Camp software (included) enables you to partition the hard drive and run Windows OS, however, unless you got a spare Windows key laying around it's cost prohibitive because you would naturally have to purchase a copy of Windows to make it work. I went through the entire process and it wasn't what I would call a rewarding experience. You have to figure out how to convert the Steam library from OSX to Win too, which isn't hard to do once you know how. It's the discovery process and research that kinda suks IMO. The software Parallels lets you seamlessly switch operating systems from your desktop without a system reboot.

You have to be very dedicated to the multi-player experience to endure the headache of adding the Windows capability to your iMac. It's all possible, just not very much fun to accomplish. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for your assistance however I may have to dig out my old laptop to try and run it. Buy a macbook they said it will be brilliant they said

iMacs do a lot of things really well, especially picture quality. There just isn't that many people who select Apple products for gaming. Remember, you can use the Windows key off that old laptop on your iMac if needed.
How would I go about doing this?
