Instead of capturing Paris, conquer and liberate all the other French territories and beat down the French by attacking the troops outside Paris with a couple of stacks for a few turns while one prepares for the assault. I like to liberate Brittany, Belgium and Netherlands, and gift Normandy to Brittany. This creates a nice Atlantic Wall against the Brits.
Hey eahaas, my website is primarily for multiplayer advice but if I find myself having more time I'd be more than happy to include this kind of singleplayer information in the future!
In terms of multiplayer, what faction do you like/want to play as? I can definitely try and cover it similarly to the Russian empire guide I posted on my blog.
Thanks!
