Total War: NAPOLEON - Definitive Edition

The Creative Assembly working on an era they "haven't tackled yet."
Total War's next chapter will explore a "brand new era," say its creators

The Creative Assembly's Total War turn-based strategy series is one which has historically focused on historical events. The most recent entry, Total War: Warhammer, is of course the exception—with its magic and orcs and vampire counts and what not—and it seems the next instalment of the now 16 year old franchise will explore similarly uncharted territory.

Speaking to Eurogamer, CA's Rob Bartholomew said the next Total War (currently in pre-production) will take place in "an era we haven't tackled yet", with creative director Mike Simpson driving the point home: "Yes… It's not something we've done before."

The studio said it would be “some time” before it revealed the title, and won’t be released for at least “a couple years,” but it will “be both huge [and] historic.”

This new game is still in pre-production and no title or release date has been announced yet, this information wasn't supposed to get out either. Now it's time to place your bets on what era the new Total War game will be set in, The Three Kingdoms or Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms eras in China, the Emu Wars of Australia, World War I or II, or even Warhammer 40.000.

The game's currently in pre-production and we're yet to hear anything regarding a release date.

This in turn rules out medieval Europe, the Napoleonic Wars, the Roman Empire and 16th century feudal Japan. Your guess is as good as mine as to what the future holds for the series, but this seems like as good a time as any to start speculating.

Let us know where and when you'd like to see Total War go next in the comments below.

I don't bet anything but I want Total War: Stone Age.
I'll go from the 1st Persian Invasion of Greece by Darius I to Alexander the Greats eventual domination of Egypt, the Middle East and into India where it stalled, perhaps starting a little before and ending a little after and encompasing a timeline of say 200 years.

I would want Vitoria Total War. Think about it, the various colonial wars, the American Civil War, the Mexican American War, The Franco-Mexican War, the Opium Wars, the Latin American Wars of Independence, the Crimean War, and the wars of Italian and German unification as possible expansions. It would probably have the largest reach of any campaign map, with it stretching for North and South America, through Europe, Africa, the Middle East, India, and east Asia as all fair territory to place on the campaign map.

Also, and this is quite wishful thinking but still fun to think about, if you had Empire and Napoleon already, you could then transfer saves from one game to the next with Victoria Total War, making it truely a great span of time a campiagn could be done over.
Victorian era for sure, I loved FoTS and it just felt like it needed a larger scope in a European theatre
Wouldn't be kind of "romantic" a WWI TW to finish the series? The game that would end the TW series about the War that would end all wars...
´
Also, released in 2018, commemorating the centenary of its end.

Just saying :)

Sega hands over Total War: Arena to Wargaming under new publishing label

Wargaming Alliance to publish the upcoming free-to-play strategy venture.

Developed by turn-based strategy champions The Creative Assembly, Total War: Arena was announced in 2013 as a free-to-play multiplayer-focused instalment to the enduring series. Sega has now announced a partnership with World of Tanks developer Wargaming that sees the latter—under a new and separate label, Wargaming Alliance—take the reigns as Arena's exclusive publisher.

Wargaming Alliance's head honcho, Vladimir Makarychev, notes Arena's official release is "still a while away", however The Creative Assembly's Tim Heaton tells PC Gamer a robust player pool has existed since day one.

"Total War: ARENA has had a strong, dedicated fan base from the start which we involved closely throughout the early development stages of the game," he says. "Most of the initial players we invited into the game were from the Total War community, we then started to see growth into wider communities. Now, with the Wargaming Alliance partnership we are able to expand further by reaching out to their substantial subscriber-base and beyond."
Here's hoping for the Emu War.

i think china

The only way it would be interesting is if it's set during the Boxer Rebellion, or some other time when China was being pressured by Europeans/the USA. A Chinese Total War game where it's only China/the nearby Asian countries would be...very samey. The only reason Shogun II worked is that the different clans in the Sengoku era had very different styles, and the game itself was incredibly beautiful due to the influence from samurai films.

Now, a Boxer Rebellion/fall of the Qing dynasty game...THAT would be cool, because of the way it could unfold, with the Qing having to do a FOTS-style "Keep up with the changing tides of military technology or be swept away by it" while numerous rebel groups fight for supremacy, and the Europeans/Americans trying to establish their own dominance over China.
I'm almost certain it will be one of these three possible options:

Total War: Renaisance (1400 - 1550)
Total War: Pike and Shot (1550 - 1700)
Total War: Victoria (1830 - 1900)
yeah i think victoria or renaisance but i really want medieval 3

Well if they made a Medieval 3 they'd probably set it in the Late Medieval period, which is from the 1300s to 1400s, so it would be very close to the time period known as the Renaisance.
It would most likely be a WW1 or WW2 game. Uncharted territory would be something not similar to past titles. Plus CA could be smart enough to piggyback off of what EA did and went for a WW1 series and mooch off of that success. the huge aspect could be a definite point towards an Empire: Total War map, but with WW1 or WW2 aspects. and Historic, what else has been more gamenized than WW2. I would not be surprised if CA came out with a WW1 or WW2 game. Many lovers of the series have been pushing for such a title since the beginning. I for one would love to play a WW title.
