Didn't work for me
Medieval 2
Empire
Rome2
Shogun 2
Attilia
Thrones
All of the above games work perfect except for Napoleon it's the only one that will not launch. The launcher pop's up for a split second then nothing. I've allowed Napoleon through my Firewall but still nothing. I have the disc version btw from when the game first came out.
I've tried verifying game cache again and again but always says 1 file will be reaquired but never is also tried it as an admin and still nothing.
Can't understand how all the others are fine except this makes no sense to me.
Anyone get it to work ?
Because this is pretty important with just about any game, and I can't believe how many people never restart their computer.
The other thing that may exist- the .BLOAT file that this and Shogun 2 used to make when taking a memory dump. I used to have this big thread for fixing it, but basically do a search of your files in Windows Explorer for "bloat" and see if such a file turns up. If so, delete it. It is safe and will fix your game.
Edit: Forgot to add, as mentioned above, you have to manually remove all old NTW files before doing a clean install. You should also be able to delete the folder and then verify the game files to re-aquire the unmodified ones.
I've never downloaded mods for my games either so that's not a problem that some have had. I also deleted steam the other day and reinstalled all my games from scratch and they all work except for 1.
Did you search for a .BLOAT file and delete it?
One other thing is to use a program like C-Cleaner from Piriform to clean up your temporary files, then fix your registry errors. You may have to run the registry cleaner several times before you get all the errors out. That was another part of my old thread I remember back in the day.
I haven't played Shogun or Empire on this pc i only installed them to see if they would work which they do as i couldn't figure out why Napoleon wouldn't launch. It barely even register's on my Task Manager when i try to play it.
There doesn't seem to be an obvious reason why this does't work no errors or warnings it just seems to flatline after pressing play or useing the Napoleon.exe to try and start.
Another thing could be running the program as administrator. Steam should always be run so, and if you haven't tried I'd right click and run as admin for NTW.
It may be a C++ issue or graphics card driver update. I'd make sure you have your GPU updated. If it's the C++, I should have the same issue on my end when I try to run it. I'll pinpoint which old version needs to be installed and let you know.
I've tried the NTW disc code with steam and installed with the discs and always ends up the same. I'll keep trying and hopefully get lucky with it eventually.
I hope you have more luck. Thanks for the help btw.
I also noticed that if you alt+tab out, you cannot get back in. Try launching it through your GPU with the framerate synced and on fullscreen. Maybe it will work long enough for you to mess with the settings.
Any Luck ?
No not a Mac I have an Alienware 17 R2 Laptop. I know how to get the DxDiag but not post it what would you be looking for on it just out of curiosity so i can check myself even.
