It is controller enabled
The store page doesn't mention it, but you can play it with an Xbox 360 controller and it plays better that way!

Yep works fine with a 360 controler !

Can't get it to work with mine - I enable the controller and then the buttons at the bottom of the screen ('Default Settings' and 'Back') start to flicker with the Y and B button prompts appearing and disappearing, and I can't use the mouse to disable the controller to get back out of that screen. Any thoughts?

Use the windows update to make sure that you have all the Xbox 360 controller drivers installed.

After that, calibrate your controller using the options in the "Devices and Printers" window.

Done that, no dice - still had the same problem. I thought it might be the fact I was using a third-party device so I swapped the controller I was using for the genuine article - again, nothing happened except now having the controller plugged in on startup means I cannot select ANY menu options at all, even with the mouse - they highlight but can't be activated.

The weird thing is, I played this game before from a physical (non-Steam) source, and had no controller issues at all, and this was in Windows 7 too. Odd ...

Ignore me - problem solved, :D

I had an adapter for non-USB gamepads attached to my PC and it was confusing everything. Took it out and everything's fine now.

Yeah, because aiming with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stick is something that is actually acceptable.
It has never and will never be.

The advantage of the stick is the variable run speed. With M/K it's one speed (well three if you count crouch and sprint).

Something not needed in AP.

Neither is good aim.

Certainly moreso, especially if you use skills for multiple shots.

I can't get the Xbox controller to work anyway. It works for every other game in Steam that supports it (so far).

I guess I'm sensitive to run speed because I just finished the original Splinter Cell. You use the mouse wheel to control run speed. I DO prefer M/K - all that Doom / Quake / CS, etc.
