GOG worth it?
Been curious about the GOG version (even though I already own it on Steam) but is there any differences/fixes in the GOG version and if it's worth double dipping as it's DRM-free?

Just mighty curious.

According to the GOG page, that version includes: Licensed soundtrack, Achievements support, Controller support, Localization support, Compatibility with modern operating systems, Cloud saves support

So yah, it's a worthy investment IMO, I did it when it it GOG, no regrets

a little specification: "licenced soundtrack" means that it's the unchanged ingame musicfrom the original version including the licenced tracks. It's not available as separated download.

To the original question: absolutely and not just because it's DRM free.

steam ver is also technically DRM free
"The game comes with 2 executables, running Binaries\APGame.exe bypasses the Steam DRM." https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Alpha_Protocol#Essential_improvements

though all the benifits GoG provides "Achievements support, Controller support, Localization support, Compatibility with modern operating systems, Cloud saves support" are good .

Thanks, i've been wondering what the changes in GOG version, basically the in-game content is the same but GOG gives more flavor in term of more support for these things then?

Do you know which songs got changed? Honestly, to me, it isn't worth much if it's just a couple of songs I might not even like. I'm planning on playing it in english and I couldn't care less about achievements. Steam now has controller support for every game and as far as I know, we also get cloud saves for every game.

No cloud saves for this game on Steam, and also, while there is controller support for every game on Steam, this game on Steam still has no built-in controller support, so if you play with a controller, you'll be stuck with emulating a mouse and keyboard which on a standard controller is not ideal to say the least... Steam Controller would be okay, but not a standard controller... and there are TONS of games on Steam with no Cloud Saves, not every game has them, lots do not

Without question, the best version of this game currently on PC is the GOG version, no contest

Might have to consider that then, whenever it goes on sale again. Thanks for that!

If you're a big fan of the game, you won't regret it, I see you have it here on Steam as do I, but I will never play this version over the GOG! No DRM is always a huge plus as well.

Like I mentioned, the only reason I'd consider buying it on GOG is if the OST was significantly better, specially after the price hike. Controller suport emulation is fine by me and I don't really need cloud saves although I do apreciate you for sharing that info, it's kinda weird how not every steam game has them.

This game has in-built controller support, as I've played it with one years ago. Please stop spreading misinformation.

You should be telling the publisher that if true, because the Steam page lists no controller support, so according to the games own listing on Steam, it’s not “misinformation”

It's true, my dualsense shows up as an xbox controller and the elite controller works right away, you only need to enable it in the options.

Then they need to update the Steam page, that's solely what I was going based off of. I originally played/finished the game on 360, I have the game in my Steam library, but never actually played it there.
