Now, to get him to fight you to the death in Rome, you have to make him hate you and you have to go to save Madison. Because, yet again, this is the unprofessional option. There will be a point where Marburg will attempt to leave. Continue to snark and remind him that you just killed a bunch of his men. He should stick around.
He can also be fought at the end of the game. But that's a labyrinth of choices that comes down to minor details I'm not completely familiar with. Pretty sure he has to hate you, at least. Can't align with Leland. Can't be planning to reveal Alpha Protocol, pretty sure that means you're getting Westridge at the end.
Trying to force the ending to happen how you want it to is a huge headache. I recommend the Rome option.
So good to know, just PISS HIM THE ♥♥♥♥ OFF and just be shooty McKillsatonne *Though I will STILL spare security guards and non combatants because I'm NOT an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥* And yeah, killing his MEN will certainly piss him the ♥♥♥♥ off too. I know with the second method that you need to either reveal that Parker was the one who left him to the wolves, or tell Parker that Marburg killed/almost killed his daughter. Which will then cause Parker's death either way AND Marburg to stay and fight to the death.
As for the endgame, if you have a positive reputation with Marburg he can be suspiciously absent from the final level. I often did, since I always played a heavy stealth build.
Which reminds me, it's not so much the killing as setting off the alarms a lot. Shooting the gelato guy. Going loud when raiding the listening post. Being more Rambo than James Bond. It's really not that hard to get negative with him if you're trying, and it doesn't take a massively bad reputation to push him over the edge.
Far as I can tell: you just need a really negative reputation (like -5, at least) and use the “suave” lines during the gunfight.
Alpha Protocol never ceases to surprise me. There is always something new to discover in this game.
And last but not least, you need his doessier to be almost complete in order to taunt him into fight instead of fleeing (i think, at the very least, you need the part of his dossier that you get by talking to madison)
