[WARNING] Repairing the same ship as you are flying (crashed) will DELETE your inventory and replace the ship you are flying with the janky fresh one you just repaired!!! [WARNING]
I had a Mikro (the one you start with) spawn on my world as a crashed ship so i figured i would repair it and get some spare parts.

My reward was a full-on ship wipe as the repaired ship replaced my ship fitted out with all new scout armor, cargo, engines, weapons and Type2 shields with a ship that has none of that. The entire full inventory with ship battery backups, and all the loot from all the bases i had spent the last 5-6 hours gathering...

Gone.

100% gone.

There is no other ship in my inventory to swap to, and teleporting to my ship takes me to the basic ♥♥♥♥♥ i started from the first moment i played the game.

This type of thing should qualify to be emergency patched.

Duplicate ships need to be stored and able to be retrieved.
- OR -
ALL ships and speeders the player owns need to be deleted from the spawning tables for all planets in the game.

Losing so much inventory is absolutely horrible, and completely saps the will to continue.
I am about a hairs breadth from deleting the game and removing it from my account.
DAYS and DAYS spent upgrading my ship in playtime just...

...vaporized.

did you go to the space station and use the ship terminal? What you described is exactly what happens when you repair ANY ship. If you go to one of the ship terminals by where you park the ships the ships you have are at the bottom of that screen.

You should be able to select between any ship at a terminal in a city or space station. When you repair a ship, it does automatically put you in the new one. but you can still switch between them and switch their fixtures and cargo in a ship terminal (where you repair).
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You can transfer Cargo and Appliances between the two ships at that Ship Bench, aboard the Station. You can also switch which ship is active there, too...

thank you for correcting me.

i didn't see my other ship in the station terminal because i must have been in a panic.
i have already re-did the hours i lost from an earlier save anyways.
