Nexus has me confused
In reading the forums, I have discovered that you aren't supposed to be able to land on Nexus and that some can't use lightning strikes to cleanse parts of the planet. Neither of those is true for me. I can come and go to and from the planet at will, and I can cleanse parts of the planet with a lightning strike.

I also found that if you build on Nexus, if you build something large or bright enough, you can see it from space.

I'm wondering if a developer can chime in and explain how Nexus is meant to work.

They commented in another post. Being able to get there has to be a bug, it is called Nexus because its a Nexus for the portals. The portals are supposed to be how you get there. Can you set a planet warp on it? I assume this will be patched in time.
I can do everything on Nexus that I can do on other planets, except a planet-wide cleanse. I can set planet portals, build anything, even cleanse small parts at a time.
I think the goal of Nexus is to close all of the portals. There are 17 if I recall. Not sure about the details of how it ties into the story except for that first portal we run into. I have not gotten too far in the story.
How do you close the portals?

I believe you have to fly to the system that they exist in and you will get a prompt that a lost portal is in that system. This is what I have heard in other posts.

Then my guess is that you have to find it on the planet and go into it and close it like the first portal on the starter planet.
And apparently you can go through the portals in reverse from the nexus side to find out where they are lol.

I'll tell you more, you can leave the planet Nexus and get to the orbital station of this system, there are traders there and not a single pirate! So you can safely loot points of interest in the Nexus system!)

Just block the beams (or destroy the beam sources) to the portal. They don't really close, but you do get a darkness protection buff for every one you do this with. I don't think there is any story element currently attached to Nexus beyond the initial one. I'm guessing it is for content yet to be released.

That makes more sense. Ive done a bunch of them, but the only one that ever closed is the one at the start of the story.
