Nexus Base (Spoilers)
While waiting for a bug fix (perhaps in vain), I decided to see how a base on Nexus would fare.

I built a basic base: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3488472512
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3488472750

I put up some walls to reduce darkness contamination to base, but dragons and giant spiders ignored those.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3488473446

I did eventually clean it up, but I don't think this will be my main base. Every time I logged out and back in, the base was put under a major attack which is fine as there are some nice loot drops, but cleanup is tedious.

TLDR: Had fun, but won't do again.

put turrets everywhere 2 blocks up from ground (so melee cant atk it)... i used 8 turrets and was farming darkness enemys and dark dust... great place to build a dark items farm to make money.. but it does get boring after a while lol.. i built mine right under the ancient weapon ship so i could find it

Yep, but I had a bunch of spawns inside the base walls when I left and came back. Lots of turrets, but that doesn't stop the contamination.

yea its wierd how they contaminate the blocks that are ment to be immune to it right?... thats why i had a platform above that stayed clean... not that i have issues there anyways.. i got maxed health and darkness resist... 18+ hearts ( currently theres a visual bug with max health) and 16+ hearts of darkness protection.. i literally dont even care about the darkness blocks lol... enemys how ever still hurt alot tho... 3 hits = shield gone and half health
i also spent all day yesterday making a base on nexus. i also made a basic base out of those blocks near the center of the map but killing a flying one died and made all the blocks corrupted..... i was like wth i thought these were supposed to be immune. after putting down a planet portal turns out coming back to nexus makes you spawn thru the original portal from the first time you went there instead. so i mined out the area around it, took a few hours. i used a light strike to clear the corrupt to make mining the area easier. make the walls tall and 3 blocks thick incase pirates with rocket launchers showed up. instead of doors i just use a 1 cube gap to crouch thru

One cube entrance was a good idea. My doors got repeatedly destroyed until I built a longish entrance hallway to protect the doors from stray attacks.

I did noticed one strange anomaly, but I'm not sure if it was intentional or a bug. In one direction, just beyond the light-strike radius, I could shoot and 'damage' something invisible, although its health bar showed zero. If I got too close to it, my health would rapidly plummet. A couple of light strikes made it go away, but there was no debris or leftovers from whatever it was.

Also, I found that digging down a bit and doing the light strike underground seemed to cause the light strike to penetrate deeper.

As for the ancient hull blocks, the only difference in their behavior seems to be that I can place one directly on corrupted ground without it becoming corrupted, otherwise they get corrupted like everything else from strikes, exploding spiders & dragons, etc.

Obsolete Barrier (Or something named like that) is what you've encountered. Usually has a certain appearance (not all cases).

How did you determine its name?

In any case, from the name it sounds like it was an unintentional leftover, which makes sense given its indestructibility (except from light strike).

It shows up (has a wonky hitbox). I can show a picture to see if we're talking about the same thing.

Thanks, but that is good enough for me. I likely didn't notice the name when I was plinking at the thing.

This would be just an example but could be what you're speaking about.
This is how I was able to know the name of that invisible entity and the name for it.

It has an HP bar and what not, just have to look around a bit for it.
Edit: Your message didn't post for me til later. But good to know!

Glad you posted the picture. Probably the same thing, but I think I would have noticed the dialog box if it had popped up for me. Did anything happen if you pressed 'E' to interact?
Cesyuna May 27 @ 10:28am
The box doesn't always pop up (Wonky hitbox)

And no. It's UI coded to pop up but no use. (Like if an item overflowed from furnace and you approach it. 'E' to interact would appear)

Just build absolutely everything out of ancient hull blocks. If you farm even 1 world you could get more than enough from the mines to make an entire base.
