I did noticed one strange anomaly, but I'm not sure if it was intentional or a bug. In one direction, just beyond the light-strike radius, I could shoot and 'damage' something invisible, although its health bar showed zero. If I got too close to it, my health would rapidly plummet. A couple of light strikes made it go away, but there was no debris or leftovers from whatever it was.
Also, I found that digging down a bit and doing the light strike underground seemed to cause the light strike to penetrate deeper.
As for the ancient hull blocks, the only difference in their behavior seems to be that I can place one directly on corrupted ground without it becoming corrupted, otherwise they get corrupted like everything else from strikes, exploding spiders & dragons, etc.
In any case, from the name it sounds like it was an unintentional leftover, which makes sense given its indestructibility (except from light strike).
It shows up (has a wonky hitbox). I can show a picture to see if we're talking about the same thing.
This would be just an example but could be what you're speaking about.
This is how I was able to know the name of that invisible entity and the name for it.
It has an HP bar and what not, just have to look around a bit for it.
Edit: Your message didn't post for me til later. But good to know!
And no. It's UI coded to pop up but no use. (Like if an item overflowed from furnace and you approach it. 'E' to interact would appear)
Just build absolutely everything out of ancient hull blocks. If you farm even 1 world you could get more than enough from the mines to make an entire base.
