I am having a great time with the game by the way.... but consider this a combination of "useful info" / warning / "epic fail" . I wonder if others have stories like this one thats worth sharing...

If you didnt know, you can plant down a number of saplings (I did 15 in a 3x5 grid), and at some point (the next morning or so), these will turn into one of those absolutely gigantic mushroom trees, which to my knowledge has never been hit by meteors... to give you an idea of size, mine was about 24 squares diameter at the base, with a stalk thats more like 14 diameter...

So... I had never done this before, and I planted it right next to my home base. Because... who doesnt plant their plants right next to their base? I had a decent-sized 2-level home with all my machines/chests, and a speeder parked outside....was puttering around improving things in the interior and suddenly....

...I was outside. With a giant mushroom at my back. My speeder was gone (it was wwaayy on top of the giant mushroom), and my entire base seemed gone as well. The tree ATE my base. So I dug into it.. my base was there, but I had to clear out all the wood. The machines/chests were sharing space with wooden cubes. I now had a TON of wood clearing to do; but in the end its pretty cool; I now have a totally hidden base and a ton of wood for the forge.... and the best part.... none of this broke the game in any way!!!

(ie this isnt a bug, its kind of a cool feature; wouldnt change a thing)

I did something similar. I got about 6 saplings and planted them about 6 blocks apart a distance from my base. And then had a monstrous mushroom tree. Wish I had known that was going to happen. I now want to build a base inside the tree. Put a door at the bottom on the outside, with a tunnel going underneath and a spiral staircase going up inside.
