Where to find Gold?
Where are y'all finding gold Ore? I've liked pretty deep in several spots and biomes and haven't come across it. I know it looks similar to copper but I've checked my inventory and chests and never gotten one during mining.

Yeah, use QB1 to locate Gold. If you go into your Inventory and click on the left Button with his name on it, you can tell him to point out GOLD ONLY (at least once you've found ONE piece of Gold), or you can tell him to point out ANY previously found T2 Ore. It'll mark the block in purple.

Once you've dug down to that marked Ore, if you've already built the Scanner, you can hit the Q button on your keyboard and it'll locate any blocks within about a 5 to 10 block radius that contain Ore and allow you to dig those out. That tends to work well for me, unless I've already cleared the area of T2 Ore (which I have done around my base). Then QB1 will make a noise, yet not point out a block...

Typo: I meant that I've mined pretty deep in several spots*
Use the droid to scan for it.
Find a ravine or cave system.

I dug underneath the crash site and found a cave system, have way more gold than anything else

You'll want Gold, Silver, and Tin ORE (NOT Ingots) for Quests that you can pick up in the two Towns. Once you've found Gold, just use QB1 to find more. Here's my quote, above, with details.

Yeah I've tried that but the problem is I haven't even found the first piece yet, and even dug where the first meteor shower fell. I read that people are finding them through cave systems so I'm going to try that again and report back

Did you look around the crater where your ship crashed?!? If you've built the Scanner and equipped it, you can go into the crater (or a Meteor Crater), and walk around the walls hitting the Q button to scan for Ores (make certain you have a LOT of batteries). It'll highlight any Ores within about 4 to 8 spaces radius to where you perform the scan as a highlighted cube with "sparkles" inside it. Those are squares of Ore that you can dig into the wall to retrieve. One MAY be Gold. Once you've found one piece of Gold, you can use QB1 to locate more, within a much larger radius than the Scanner can.

I had this problem too. But on the screen where you tell QB1 what ore to scan for you can click on the button that says like T1 or T2 and it will just search for a random or of that tier. Took me 3 or 4 tries to get a piece of gold ore then I could search for it specifically.

Omg that was it! I spent an hour in a cave with no results until I read this. I found gold on the second try. I could've sworn I heard about it before but I must've completely missed it. Thanks!!

I tried that but gold specifically isn't selectable, just any of the others or T2 ore in general, I tried for like 2 hours and didn't hit gold once. NGL puts a pretty sour taste in the mouth whether that's as intended or as a bug.

One has to find an Ore first, before QB1 will specifically located it. If you haven't done so, go to the pit where your Ship was crashed and look around. You may or may not find some Ore in the exposed surfaces. Once you've cleared that, have QB1 detect ANY T2 Ore. Once you've dug out THAT Ore and used your personal Scanner to check for any other Ore in the Immediate area (Q key), then repeat the process with QB1.

QB1 will detect ANT T2 Ore whether or not you've found it. Once you've found the Ore at least a single time, then you can direct QB1 to find that Ore...

I find it HIGHLY unlikely that you've looked for very long, as it should be plentiful enough for you to find it within a reasonable time...

I've fully cleared the crash site, 2 separate meteor sites and a natural cave system. I'm rich with 3 of the 4 Tier 2 ores, but not one gold yet.
*edit* Finally found some by randomly scanning for T2, it was in a small pocket nowhere near any of the tutorial points of interest. Took hours to find any and there's very little more. Is the demo tutorial also procedural? Random?

For what its worth; once I got some mobility (speeder, etc) and started looking around, you start to come across square shafts with a roof over it... and the roof (and the railroad-like railings you will find inside) will be made of something called "ancient blocks"; you will know them because they are dark blue with light blue etchings no them (story-wise they are kinda important as you will find out).

The thing is... I have explored 7-8 of these shafts now, and every one of them is chock-full of pretty much every ore there is, every time, once you explore it all. I pulled 30+ silver and 10+ of almost everything else from one of them. Plus a chest at each end of every railroad line (there can be more than one). Also in there... 1-2 pirates/line, and sometimes a beast... so be prepared. But still... I have more gold from these than I know what to do with,

I don't know why people keep commenting on this, it's already solved, just click on the icon/symbol and dig up the ores it tells you at random until you get gold
