Custom ship building?

Can you build up you ship and shape/customize it block by block? Can you walk on your ship while in space? Thank you.

There's definitely at least SOME Customization of ships. The town that's further away has a platform where that can be done.

Just found this game, and yes i think ill play to find out more myself, but completely creative control building vehicles or ships would be so awesome. I'd finally have something to replace Empyrion galactic survival. That game really did not live up to expectations for me and this looks like a perfect replacement. Looks sick as hell excited either way

Yeah I'm here for the exact reason. Empyrion devs are dirtbags imo... If you find out if you can build block by block I'd like to know, don't really feel like playing the demo...
If you haven't already, look up Space Engineers 2, I think once it's out of EA it's gonna be a lot like what we wanted Empyrion to become. I'm really just waiting for survival to release on SE2 and was hoping this game might at least tie me over...

It's a free demo. It's not like it costs anything. You'll probably determine what you need to know within a few minutes of starting play...

there is also "Starmade" sadly they had some nasty drama where one of the devs stole money and resources from the dev team that was building it and it really fell off after that. itis taking the lead dev who is alone now a long time to get back to working on it... but Cubic Odyssey and Starmade are nearly identical though 10 years apart.

as the first responder to your OP said. there are 2 towns on the world where the Demo takes place. the one that is further away from you has ship building/repairing facilities.

i feel that Cubic Odyssey will be a far more enjoyable experience than Starmade sadly as it's community has really fallen off. but if you need an alternative to Empyrion GS, Starmade is fully playable right now. oh! but bring your own music. they dont have any.

Been playing the demo and have unlocked the starter ship. I don't know how extensive the ship designs go, but I was able to add all my chests to my ship and move the contents to said ship and I placed a dirt block on the front of my ship. That is about the extent of my customization.

Custom ship building is a complex feature that requires a lot of effort, we focused on making a complete game without ill-conceived and strange mechanics. But in the future after the release, we will probably return to this issue, since it is certainly a very logical thing for our world. In the full version, you can leave the ship in space, moreover, you can extract resources from asteroids, collect loot and even find broken rare ships that you can repair and take for yourself or sell it.

Thank you for the clear answer! Y'all rock. I did play the demo and enjoyed what I did play, besides the custom ship building, I'd say my only other issue is the lack of feedback from the resource gathering beam. Thanks again for the response and good luck in development!!!

Ship building is definitely an expected feature for a game like this!! I suggest having a perfect square range of area around a (power) core where players can add crafted (or bought) ship parts and materials within!!! Where if you filled 100% of the space for adding parts, the ship would be a large cube! On the other hand, if you placed a ship weapon in open space, within that building range it would float relative to the ship as if it was connected. After creation, the ship's hit box should snap to the farthest placed parts to give the ships a sense of size. Free idea!! Run with it!!! lol XD

Some good ideas coming in, but the original question has been answered and we're starting to move out into "new" territory. Maybe it's time to lock this Discussion and move further questions and suggestions to a new Discussion...
