Best Class
Which class do you think is a better choice?
*Miner have extra ore yield and mining speed. Best part of it probably mining speed just because of how tedious is mining.
*Crafter might be useful if you use it right. Like crafting something to extract its one of the mods. You can craft dirt-cheap junk items just to fill your empty mod slots.
*Pilot... There are lots of space combat especially in mid-late game so its a solid choice. More shield, less energy usage and cheaper repair.
*Knight Those pesky red bugs are mostly a joke. You can just put 1x2x1 1x3x1 block and stay top of it. They already drops a lot of resource. Do we really need more of those? Knight gives purify speed and more loot. Is this also apply to space combat? Are there "red darkness" enemies in space?

Miner, Pilot and Knight all 3 of these looks good to me. Which one did you pick?

I picked crafter, the extra mod chance is a pita as of right now since you really want items with no mods, but it also reduces the cost of repair which is nice

I picked Knight and didn't even bother to read the bonuses. There are darkness enemies in space. The ones that I have encountered beam a shield onto a planet so you have to kill them to remove the shield.
I spend so much time mining compared to the rest, so yeah.
Space fighting is a joke (you can just hug other ship and kill them later, and somewhat mid early on just use missiles to do 6k dmg). Interceptor protect the darkness that shield planet but are extremely weak, while the darkness itself doesn't fight back. All other space fight can be skipped (they give nearly no reward anyway). Repairing ship is not costly so far (t5).
Ground darkness fighting is more complicated sometime but are also very easy to deal with if you stand on top of a rock or use a light shard. The later require some mining.

Crafter is a no-go, the mod are only t1 and prevent you from adding better mods. Never pick it.

Mining barely cost energy but the extra resource is helpful. Seems to stack with mining mod too, since I get more drop more than half the time.
i picked crafter since i figured i would be finding more than enough ores. figured id be crafting lots of things so free mods sounded good. im playing at my own pace and have tier 3 gear and i modded them all with shield mods and can survive pirates now, only shotgun pirates can kill me if lucky to get of 2 perfect close range shots.

I have been hearing miner because people are resource starved and crafter gives random low level mods that ruin items (surely they will adjust this) and the other two are negligible.

I sort of think I agree more resources is the most useful but I am not sure just how much of a difference knight makes.
I chose miner since you are gathering materials constantly in the game.

For pilot, you can save your game, exit to the main menu, and continue the game. Your ship is instantly repaired when you load back in. Kind of a neat trick I found to avoid repairing my ship.

For crafter, you can farm higher tier planets for guns that drop constantly from pirates. I am on a planet dropping tier 4 or 5 weapons with purple or higher tier mods. So it could be good for early game but instead of using materials, you can just kill pirates to get their guns.

Well it's just that mining is about the worst way to get ressources so it's meh imo

While this works for the health bar, it does not repair the physical brick damage done to your ship, leaving giant gaping holes in it. You eventually need to repair it at the space station to replace those bricks, and if you aren't damaged, you can't repair those bricks. Just a word of warning.

Good callout, I imagine that must end up being hilarious at a certain point :D

oh yeah... I started noticing these gaping holes in my ship all over the place and couldn't figure out how to fix it, because repairing wasn't working... eventually I had to go and purposely take a little damage and repair before I saved/reloaded.
miner + 4x increased yield mods in drill = bonus ores... especially important for geting glowing ores since they are hard to get or take 10 mins per ore also sometimes u get a placable ore node from the auto drill.. so 2 ores> 1

played miner in the demo, then went Knight after i purchased the game. figured end game combat bonuses would come in handy

I picked miner, now I'm thinking I should have picked Pilot or Knight.
Miner class is really good, you get:
Mining speed equal to player level
Extra resource drop chance equal to player level
Less Mining energy cost equal to half of the player level

Those bonuses are fine, mining is big portion of the game you mine even when you are out there not for mining. but...
Space fights are insanely rewarding: components, ingots, warp cells and ship energy packs drops a lot. It might be better to focus space instead of mining.

On early game, I found a titan class ship named pod in space. Claimed it by repairing like any others. I fought 2x 1vs4 combat than did repair in space station and it costs only 125 credits for around %20 damaged ship. Is that normal? It would took more than 2-3k to repair my starter ship. This ship has a seriously broken repair cost.
You can find it in near Bardwell 2, exit from that second planet, scan the sector, its around 6-7 LU distance. In repair GUI, don't pin the necessary items for repair, It may sound superstitious but I believe I lost the first ship I found by pinning it. After gathered necessary repair materials, I went back there and ship wasn't there, scan node was empty. So don't pin it.

the cargo pod isn't exclusive to that one spot... just keep scanning and visiting dots, you'll come across many of them. In my experience, it's not pinning that makes it disappear, it's saving and loading the game. But it doesn't matter one bit, because you will find plenty more in the starter sector, and just about any other sector as well.
