Was excited to build my own ship ... then i read posts here.
So 1st thing i wanted to do was move the turrets ... could not work it out so came here to find if anyone knows how ..... then i started to read posts about any changes not being perm and that they revert after repairing ....

What is the point ... honestly the whole reason i got this game was to build stuff .... watched a short video on this game and they were building a ship or at least editing it no mention of it getting wiped after each repair this is why i got the game due to this video.

So disappointed now to the point i have now lost interest in continuing playing.

Real let down.

Also, there is no way to actually control what KIND of ship you're building yet.
You have 5 types of ships
Interceptor, Scout, Fighter, Titan (Best one IMO), Cargo
But you can't go "I want to build a Titan, or other ship", instead you can only just grab one and modify it from there.
There also isn't any reason to either, as later on you're just going to replace it with a higher tiered version of itself.

The dam store page says (Build Vehicles) in its description.

What is this insanity.

You do realize that his game is 3 days old, is still pretty much an EA despite it not being listed as such, and the dev is working on it?
You do read patch notes, right?
It's gonna take some time so best to just be patient instead of making mountains out of anthills.

Well if its not in the game yet then they should not say it is in the description.

And yes read the Patch notes and they say building stuff is in game too ....

Did you read the patch notes ?

Just incase you missed it it was titled .. Build the Spaceship You’ve Always Dreamed Of

That's sales for you. And yes i'm not happy with this silly version of ship 'editing' bc everything that should be there is not.

This is a 1.0 so no excuse.
Seems ship building is forgotten by dev team in the dev process ......

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this title is early access. I'm currently softlocked because I took over a pirate base before the main quest wanted me to.

Don't you see it as a red flag that a developer releases an early access title without labeling it as early access?

Seems pretty shady to me. Especially considering not all players are willing to support a game's development via early access.

I have played plenty of early access titles and I cannot think of one that has had as many game breaking bugs as this one does. Do the devs really consider this bug riddled mess 1.0? That's terrifying.

I came to confirm if this was the case as well - I enjoyed the demo, and I've scrubbed through a few let's plays and was surprised to find that no one was building their own ships, hoverbikes, or whatever 'vehicle' type - their update seems to imply that building custom ships is a pretty core feature, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

This is the second title I've seen get released as 1.0, but seems to be Early Access... is this becoming a common thing? What's the benefit?

how far can you edit the first scout ship, extending the cab for more room to put a portal, bed, a few benches and cargo......ive heard, read but havent experimented with it yet.
Sir Twist May 19 @ 10:34am
So, as of now (May 19/25), you are limited to what you can do to modify the ship you get. The starter ship has "space" for 3 "slots" which are any crafting bench type object including storage boxes above the basic ship cargo. You can only upgrade the tier for what goes on it as for the gun, shields, engine and cargo slots. As far as the "look" of the ship, and as far as i can tell it has NO bearing on the functionality of the ship at all, you can do what you want with the build blocks, but it seems to be a purely cosmetic thing.
If you relog after repair, without going into ship modify mode, the change you made to the ship should remain. But yeah, still annoying. Also bummed by the fact that any glass blocks added to the ship are lost forever as they won't be able to return to inventory when you remove them.

You can modify your ship in the shipyard (one can be found on the first planet). You can buy different blocks and place them onto your ship. Not sure about building from scratch, but better than nothing.
