The pirates will no longer attack the starting base
I think that's wrong... Just don't let it spawn at one, but insert a distance variable. Only 2 m spawn on top of one or if you teleport there is just crap
The single pirate that regularly attacks your starter base is pretty easy to deal with - but near the settlement to the West on the starter planet there are a couple of pirates who absolutely murder you and damage-ruin your equipment, while their shields recharge so fast you can barely make a dent to their hitpoints. That seems a bit harsh for a beginner.
Same goes for the mercenary quest you get from some NPCs - even on the starter planet the pirates you need to unalive are so mad tough that I had to do the cowardly option and blast them with my spaceship.
And the problem is more the cost of being attacked than the attack itself
To have better protection just carpet plant to get the big big red leaf oaks
So far more relaxed play style, hoping that the red menace will not double every ingame hour.
Make a bed and sleep through the night, fellow space man.
