Perfume doesn't seem to do anything.

Not sure if this is a bug, but the perfumes don't really seem to work at all.

I always try to match up perfume types to the girls preferences but it just doesn't seem to have any apreciable effect... this is making the game far harder than it needs to be as you can just get boned by bad luck. The perfumes are supposed to help lessen bad luck, but really, I've gone whole games without more than 5-6 tokens of the appropriate type on the board at any given time. A +50% increase would mean a dramatic change, but alas, no.

I've seen the gratest increase from the one that increases broken hearts, but hadn't really noticed it for the others.

perfume only affect new gem spawns. It is very noticeable for me.

If you want to feel the effect of perfumes

1) rush getting sentiment until you can use perfumes (more moves it is active, the more it's effect can be felt)
2) after activating it, find moves which can get you (2 chains or more)/match 4/match 5/fork match 5

Hard to rush perfume when the game is so random. Sometimes you can use it sometimes you can't. Sucks that no amount of skill can save certain dates. And it happens a LOT later in the game when you don't have many spare moves.

My general strategy has been use the shoes which give you sentiment on matching 4, and then usually I have to use a broken heart conversion second because there are so many later. Next goal is the free moves on matching 4. After that I can get perfume.

Even then though, after 10-15 moves I often don't have any of the tokens it's supposed to increase even if I've only matched them once or twice.

Edit= I failed to spell matching correctly twice. O_o Both times spelled it "mathing"... My C key must be rebelling.

Part of it is that it's a statistics thing. Even if the chances are increased, you can end up boned by bad luck anyway.

And keep in mind that there is a maximum number of certain type of tokens on the field. For bells and broken hearts, that number is 8. Probably the same for sentiments and passion.

Affection tokens can go above that and I don't know the exact number, but the more you already have on the field the more diminished your chances seem to be.

In general it means that perfumes are very bad choice for dating.
Better to take something that add moves, clear broken hears, etc.

If all tokens have the same chance and aren't at their cap yet, then you have a 1/8 chance to spawn the one you want. That's 12.5%.

With the perfume, you get 50% more of the one token type. So it's now 1.5/8.5, or 17.6%, which is a 5.1% increase overall.

Needless to say, I don't use perfume.

You don't get MORE on the screen, you get a higher chance that the type generated will be the perfume one.

What increases your odds better than perfume is to burry tokens you don't want at the bottom of the board play with only good tokens on top of the board.

If direct Score is what you're after, it can make a huge difference. With Perfume, assuming that you've mostly managed to take all those tokens out, you have a good chance of constantly getting 4 matches of her preferred type.

Obviously it's not good enough for Alpha mode since direct Score just doesn't matter, but.

Even if you go for top score, perfume give very small boost comparing with some other date gifts that you can use instead. Adding 6 moves with Sunflower, or consuming all tokens of one type on screen, or upgrading token to power token and creating 5+ match with it - it's all better and guaranteed outcome of gift use, instead of 5% increase in token flow.

Also, at start of match you need 14 Sentiment to enable three kind of shoes, so you'll use perfume gift when you have around 10+ moves left.
