[Mod] Super Easy / Super Hard Bedroom Puzzle Difficulties
This mod changes the bedroom game to be easier or harder depending on the chosen difficulty settings. Easy mode will slow down the affection drain to be more manageable, as well as remove Sentiment tokens to make matching all others much more likely. Conversely, Hard mode will increase the drain rate, as well as add two more types of tokens: Joy and Broken Hearts. Normal mode also has a unique change done to it, but it is neither harder nor easier than the base game... in a sense.

Changing the difficulty partway during the puzzle will update the drain rate, but not the token layout, so this can be used to customize your experience to your liking.

Note that due to a bug, you can still change your difficulty setting even while in Alpha Mode. Simply open up the settings panel, close the HunieBee, and then open it again. This will allow you to play with any of my token arrangements and update your drain rate on the fly, just like everyone else.

Also as a somewhat unrelated part of this mod, I've made it possible to go on dates even while your inventory is full, so long as you can't get that girl's panties (either you have/had them already, or it's not night time anyway). Please let me know if this breaks the game somehow and I'll see what I can do.

(and if you're worried, here's a virus scan[www.virustotal.com])

To install:
  1. Extract the contents of the "Asset-Mod" folder into the game's install directory alongside "HuniePop.exe"
  2. Run "patcher.bat" to modify the appropriate files
  3. Make sure no errors have occurred and "sharedassets0.assets" exists in the "HuniePop_Data" folder

  4. Extract the contents of the "Assembly-Mod" folder into "HuniePop_Data\Managed\"
  5. Run "hp-fix.exe" to modify the appropriate files
  6. Back up "Assembly-CSharp.dll" by copying it somewhere or renaming it to something else
  7. Rename "Assembly-Csharp-PATCHED.dll" to "Assembly-CSharp.dll"

To uninstall:
  1. Open the "HuniePop_Data" folder inside the game's install directory
  2. Delete "sharedassets0.assets" or rename it to something else
  3. Rename "sharedassets0 BACKUP.assets" to "sharedassets0.assets"

  4. Open the "Managed" folder from within the "HuniePop_Data" folder
  5. Delete "Assembly-CSharp.dll" or rename it to something else
  6. Restore your backup file and ensure it is called "Assembly-CSharp.dll"

Alternatively, verify the game cache from HuniePop's Properties menu if it is the Steam version.

Many thanks to Lounger for his help with this project. He's been working on his own mods for HuniePop longer than I have and got me set up with the tools and knowledge required to put this all together. Keep a lookout for his work as well!

None of this would be possible without Alloc and the 7 Days to Die modding community[7dtd.illy.bz] for spearheading Unity assembly patching by creating the necessary tools from scratch.

Note: I have only tested this on 64bit Windows 7 and HuniePop ver 1.2.0 (V-Day patch). I don't guarantee anything on earlier or later versions, it might not even be compatible on Linux/Mac (the .bat file wouldn't work regardless), and it would probably conflict with any other mod you might have or will install.

If you would like to use my Colorblind mod simply extract those files and replace the ones from the Bedroom mod, and skip steps #1-3 here (use the Colorblind installation steps instead). You do still need steps #4-7 to patch the assembly or else you will just have a colorblind-safe regular game.

And to the devs: I am not distributing any of the game's files, as I'm using a method to patch in only my changes without requiring any special tools that might be used for dubious means. Both as a courtesy to players with the reduced filesize, but also towards the devs and any legal action they might bring upon my head. If you would like me to take this down for any reason, I will gladly do so. This mod is only intended to enhance the experience for certain users, and not for cheats or exploits.

The first public "engine mod"... You got ahead of me, congrats :D:

I can't install it because I'm on a Mac, but I think that it's really cool you created this. :)

The assets mod should be possible with xdelta for Mac.
Assembly-CSharp mod can be done by running the EXE with Mono.

Not entirely impossible, though not really simple.

I love the idea of slowing the affection decay rate for a more "casual" relaxed dating experience.

Unfortunately, the patcher throws me an error... Fails to recognize xdelta3
It will back up sharedassets0.assets successfully, but not create the replacement file.

Windows 8.1 64 bit...

hp-fix.exe seems to work fine. Creates the patched dll as expected

You sure that's the error you get?

I'm also getting an error but completely different, because the filename of the patch is wrong, or he included the wrong patch.
xdelta3: file open failed: read: patchbedroom: The system cannot find the file specified.
Try renaming patchcolordata to patchbedroom

Ah, my mistake. It definitely needs patchbedroom. That file should be 163KB, and patchcolordata is 455KB.

This should have the correct patch file. Sorry about that.

It's pleasing to see a mod increasing difficulty.
The bedroom hasn't been challenging since the official patches kept dropping the difficulty to the point it ends in the blink of an eye.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of yours, and Loungers work.

Seirie denies it, but v1.0's hard mode drained quite a bit faster than any other version. Also Alpha Mode (v1.2) drained even slower because it incorrectly sets your difficulty to Normal instead of Hard.

This mod sets the drain rate roughly back to what it was originally, as well as separating the process from framerate as much as possible. Before, depending on the framerate, the affection drain could be faster than at a solid 60fps. And it's not strictly due to increased framerate, actually a lower framerate could make the game harder than it should be as well (yet 100-120fps would work similarly to 50-60fps).

Sparing you the details, playing Normal mode with Hard's drain rate should emulate v1.0's difficulty, regardless of the power of your machine, and Hard/Hard should be the most challenge this game's ever had.

Thank you so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much, man.

@ UnLuckyCat Thank you for the updated file !!

@ Lounger, The Creator You were absolutly correct about he error msg. Sloppy bug reporting on my part...

I used the patched dll alone for several days and it seemed to have set the decay rate to an acceptable level (for me). Personally, I enjoy the slow measured strategic gameplay of the standard date puzzles much more than the frantic chaos of the bedroom minigame.
The "sweet spot" for me would be to play hard alpha mode with easy bedroom dates..

On a related note, have you or Lounger found a switch to enable the "moneyshot" on successful bedroom dates after the first? I have the intuition that the game traets them like morning dates, but if it is possible I would Love to see that enabled !!!

Thanks for modding this surprisingly addictive little game !!

@DocNaoh + @hippiluv65 : Glad to be of service!

I wish I had a better way to separate the difficulties, especially in Alpha mode. As it is now, you have to switch difficulties after the regular date starts but before it finishes, otherwise you'll be stuck in that difficulty for the bedroom part. Then you have to switch back before starting your next date. Lounger has custom UI elements, so I could try something like that.

As for viewing completion CG after every night date, yes actually. Lounger looked into that very thing, and it's possible. However, unfortunately, the game always attempts to give you the girl's panties at the same time. That's why you only see it once, because if you have their underwear it skips the scene.

It still works, you just have to copy+paste
Mr. Oibyr Jun 30, 2015 @ 11:49pm
Doesn't work on windows 8.1. There is no hp-fix.exe.

Works fine on Windows 8.1, you must have some annoying anti-virus.
