If you make a match ASAP, you can actually beat the thing with only matching 3-in-a-row, which is easier to see in super slowmo. Even on Hard, the drain isn't more than the gains unless you waste time. With just average luck and a few intentional 4+ matches and 2x combos, it shouldn't take more than a minute to clear.
The timing is pretty strict, though, so I really do mean ASAP otherwise you will lose bar. If you ever miss a single match then you immediately start losing hard. It should probably slowly ramp up instead, so you only really get punished if you fall asleep. Or just, you know, not drain at all until you regain control.
I think the point of the thing was as a fun bonus round where crazy combos match themselves and you just play without worrying about your next move, but there's a bit too much focus on speed.
Remove all non-affection tokens for easier matching, reduce the decay, and increase the total cap at least on Hard/Alpha.
Seriously, 1/2 decay and 2x requirements would be loads easier. And why aren't there Joy tokens? Put those in Hard mode, and take out Sentiment from Easy mode. Suddenly you're getting instant combos on Easy and you have to work for it in Hard. Done deal.
Im not sure if its part of the algorythm but as about 4 minutes go by (usually takes me about 10 to beat these) more combos show up.
You cant win the sex mini game without a bunch of luck combos, with mouse acceleration and having to keep correcting where i move since its not precise because im playing in a 800x600 window, it actually becomes a pain.
Honestly going for 4's is the LAST thing you should be doing as you only get +10,. and the time it took you to try to match a 4 is already wasted 3X-10X over than what you got for getting it. As in you already drained about 100, and all you get back is 10.
Matching 4 should give 100 out of the 600 immediatly with how fast the drain is, or make it 3000, and cut the drain to 1/5th of its speed, so it still takes a good minute or two but your not pulling your hair out.
None of those games have a single thing in common with this game. Being good at FPS', RPG's, and action-platformers doesn't make you good at ALL games. I'm as good as I am at this game because I spent a lot of time previously playing "Marvel Puzzle Quest" on Steam. A LOT of practice with Match 3's.
Like any game this one just might require some practice. It's not even difficult for its type, literally just match as fast as you can. The removal of Broken Heart and Joy tokens practically makes the game play itself, as the odds of catastrophic accidental chains increases dramatically with the removal of two token types.
But no, this is the modern age.
"It's too hard for me."
"Well you could practice, I'll give you some tips so you can-"
"No. Make it easier so I can beat it."
"But won't it be more fun to-"
"No, make it easier!"
Its hard for the sake of hard, not for the sake of challenge. The drain is simply too fast, and the matching simply isnt enough, add on top of that the RNG luck of getting combos dropped and its more a game of frustrating luck than any skill or challange. This rule of good game design dates back to the NES era, and will continue to seperate games to the future.
My average sex game goes for maybe two or three minutes, tops. Maybe 5 if I'm having a bad day.
Sorry but no, you're just plain bad at it. Get used to matching much faster.
Story of my life.
The dates are far easier to complete than the sex ones. Even though they don't have a fail state, I might spend up to ten minutes on the sex ones. The dates, require slight planning and give you a rest between turns. A fair bit easier.
But no, this is a casual game, and the minigame should be a bit less spaztic, i know some who are not gamers at all and play these dating games and im sure they either cant, or have a much much harder time. The base game is MOVE limit based, not time score based, so you are TAUGHT to not just match like crazy.
The base game teaches you to slow down, and make decisive, thought out matches more like chess, then it goes bejeweled 3000% turbo. Honestly i get why its how it is, but at the end of the day, i say poor design choices in the long run.
No.
1: "Casual"? It only has that tag on the store page because it's a match-3, and for some reason the modern CoD-Kids can't wrap their heads around a puzzle game not being for "casuals".
2: Your not-gamer friends can practice with you, and you can all improve your skills together. It'll be a bonding experience.
3: The sex mini-games add in a flash of variety in a game that is otherwise a sea of monotony. Don't get me wrong, it's a GOOD Game, but it doesn't take long to realize that all you do is talk/answer/date and repeat this pattern for the entire length of the experience. The sex mini-game is an EVENT, something that doesn't happen any other time. It presents you with a new challenge that makes you think slightly differently, and rewards you accordingly.
This is VERY GOOD game design. Without the sex-minigame there would be no "end boss", no sense of reaching an end-goal, just another date comes and goes, you get another picture, and you move on with no fanfare, like those free flash-based "dating sims" you could find on NewGrounds back in the day.
The mini-game is not unbeatable. You just need to improve at it. Work on it, you'll get better. It only takes practice.
Overall it's easy because you can't lose but sometimes you get things done in about a minute but other times you might spend like 7 minutes because those 3's are actually hidden well.
