What are the different tokens?
I know Kyu went over the dfferent in date tokens in the tutorial, but I haven't been able to find any reference. I'm new to this game, but have played other match 3 type games (Gems of War and Puzzle Quest). Each game has a slightly different match 3 mechanic that takes a bit to get used to.

Anyway--

What token goes for what trait? It would be helpful to match the girl's favorite tokens.

I think the bells give an extra move.
The blue tear drop is sentiment.
Beyond that I'm at a loss. I thought the notes were for talent, but when I dated a girl that liked talent I didn't get as much from those as I did for stars.

That's a pretty good resource, but I'll go over it quickly:

-Joy (the bells) gives extra moves.
-Sentiment (teardrop) gives you points toward using date gifts.
-Passion (hearts) grant a bonus to affection. The bonus accumulates with each passion level up to the maximum.
-Romace (orange), Talent (blue), Sexuality (red) and Flirtation (green) are your affection tokens. Each girl will have a favored and unfavored color, with the other two being neutral.
-Some of your date gifts will convert sentiment or passion into affection. These are very useful late-game and post-game, not so much in early-game.

You were probably just overdoing the talent tokens and had enough of the flirtation ones to make larger combos.

Thanks. That helps. Even so often times there just isn't the matches with the more valuable tokens available.

I've noticed the number of points needed to have a successful date goes up with the total number of successful dates with all girls combined and not so much related to the successful dates with one girl. The second date with one still required more than the third date with another girl earlier. Does the number go up if you had an unsuccessful date? So far I've been fortunate and have been successful with all dates though one got close. I had 2 turns to go.

No, it only goes up with successful required dates. There is no consequence for failure, and any dates past your four required ones do not add to the difficulty, at least not until you've unlocked Alpha Mode (i.e. post-game). There is also a point cap to the sex mini-games, after which they will cease to rise in difficulty.

Apparently the game doesn't let you fail on easy setting. I had one date that was going bad and I got down to 1 move left. I decided to face the music and play what I thought would be the last move and it gave me another move even though there was no match that should have done that. Well I could have missed it so played another and it did it again and a couple more times before I finally got the points to be successful.

I have had failed dates on easy setting.

Probably caused some joy tokens to fall down and make a match. You can definitely fail on easy, because we've all done it at some point.

I didn't see it and it had to do it 2 more 3 turns. I had a couple of others get down to 1 or 2 turns left.

So far I haven't failed (knock on wood). The difficult one is the bedroom game. It's more an exercise in manipulating the controls than any strategy even when you do see the matches. Your points go down fast.
