I also like dating sims, but mostly play them for their stories. With Huniepop's dating sim elements, i like it because it's more a parody of the genre (as a writer myself i love a good parody or twist on any typical genre).
What embarasses you most about the game?
And no, the whole... "sexyness" of this game didn't really get my attention. As you mentioned the game has pretty fun dialogue and nature to its plot (or whatever you can call it) but I just personally feel a little bit ashamed of myself when it comes to playing games (or pretty much any type of entertainment) with nudity just for your fun.
I certainly am a guy with strong opinions and I am not scared about talking nudity, sex, etc. but as I said having it just for your pleasure makes me feel dirty. I like my entertainment clean. Even buying Skullgirls made me regret it for a while haha!
Mostly the sexy nature of this game embrasses me because I personally am not really into having fapping material in my games. If I want to have a moment to get a bit of a stress away I have my own ways.
Oh man, talking about myself over the internet to a rabdom person in the forums of a questionable game. Haha dunno what to say.
The game is extremely fun even without looking at the erotic content. Have fun and don't worry about such things.
Meh, the good thing about the internet is that sometimes it's like a free therapy session!
From what i read up (because i'm a big game trivia nerd) is that originally Huniepop was supposed to have more of a plot, but that was abandoned for more of a parody.
I've never really been one for fap material in games myself, I'm in it for the story and the characters, not how it'll get me off. As a writer i'm also happy a game like Huniepop exists with such strong lead females and the fact they're all so different from a lot of other media out there these days (i especially love Kyu, whose a total fourth-wall breaker and destroyer of tropes). I can definately agree with feeling uncomfortable with 'sexy' games. It seems the 'sexyness' is taken to overblown proportions and people think the game is all about sex when sometimes it's more than that and people get into arguments over waifus and all that other stuff just to have an excuse to act a little crazy (i treat the waifu thing as more of a joke myself, as i like having a fourth wall and a good connection to the real world).
Skullgirls is also a really a good game, but i play it because i love the animation, the story and the gameplay as well as it's loveable cast of characters, not because it's supposed to be 'sexy', i even wrote in my review for the game that the one thing i hate is people who take that BRILLIANT game with an almost entirely female cast to this weird, icky, dirty place where people just think it's fap material in the form of a fighting game.
Huniepop is more of a casual game however, BUT you're not really alone in feeling uncomfortable. I've met plenty of players who purposely avoid the night date segments or those who just go around playing match-3 the whole time. I'm also surprised that the Dev didn't split the two up. The match 3 portions or so solid, it could've very well been the next Candy Crack, but instead they combined it with dating sims so not to be seen as a clone of a popular game. I mainly see Huniepop as a match-3 game wearing a dating sims' clothing in that respect. If you like that aspect of the game, i say it's worth keeping because it's fun and almost additcting. The dating sim elements can be easily avoided once you get past the cut scenes too, though i still wish there was a button to skip those scenes entirely...
Like real life, the game itself involves very little sex, just a bedroom scene and the last puzzle, which is played with the girl in the bedroom in her lingerie, and yes, her bra does come off. But, most of it actually is based around strategy, future planning, and for goodness' sake, remembering things!
Being a straight gal though, maybe it doesn't affect me the same as it would a straight dude.
What I like about this game though, is the fact that unlike other Candy Crush-type games, this one actually has goals that you're working towards OTHER than trying to get to the next level, which is just a slightly more difficult level. This one involves so much more!
So far, this is one of my favorite games!
agreed ^^ I feel the same way as a female who plays the game!
But the biggest reason why I still think about refunding this is because we straight men have this strange stigma upon us when it comes to sex related stuff. I mean, I've talked to more girls about these... private things rather than with my close male friends. All my friends know what kind of person I am in real life and how I actually love pin-up 'n' stuff but still this game actually already raised a couple of eyebrows getting my friends to say "what the ♥♥♥♥ man
If you want the crushing subconscious weight of judgement to dissipate, just refer your Family, Friends, or anyone in general to my profile.

P.S. If you refund the game, you'll only get 3$. C'mon, 3$ back from returning a finished (and pretty good) puzzle game.
Anyways, I've decided to keep this game. Not gonna refund. Belivie it or not, I actually bought this game for its gameplay, not the "rewards".
Thanks to all you pervs for making one of the hardest (gaming related) decisions in my life.
Good on ya man :) Hope whatever you get out of this game you enjoy
