Formula 1 Career Mods? Formula 1 fans of rFactor?
Hello. I'm thinking of getting rFactor to replace Formula 1 Challenge (EA Sports) - I'm hoping there are mods that will allow me to play F1 seasons (maybe 1990-2010 or so.) I'm looking for an updated game with more mods and modability than F1C, because the game is so old that there are few mods and though I don't mind the old graphics, it'd be nice to have a longer career, etc.

Do the mods exist, and is anyone familiar with the old F1 series by EA sports? Is this a good replacement for those old games?

If you are looking for a game that has a career mode, this ain't it. There are plenty of mods for F1 seasons if you look in the right places, and tons of tracks you can get. However, you may have to get your hands dirty editing a few files to be able to run a full season in the game in each mod, and as I said before there is no career, you will just run individual seasons. The physics are also pretty hard core, so if you aren't used to simulation games you will likely find it difficult, having a steering wheel is almost a must.

Thanks for the replying. I don't mind playing a career by individual seasons. It's OK if the game doesn't have a proper career mode. As long as the mods are there, and they are easy to install and play with, I'll be happy.

Here[www.rfactorcentral.com] is a site that has a bunch of mods. You'll have to sign up to download, and some of the links may be dead, but there's plenty to browse through. Most mods shouldn't be too hard to install, just either run the .exe and point it to the RFactor folder, or simply drag and drop from a .zip or .rar file. Have fun :) Just be warned that if you want to make a custom season, you will have to edit the .rfm file yourself. There should be tutorials out there how to do it, I haven't done it myself but I did look at some .rfm files (just open it with notepad) and it looks like it shouldn't be difficult.

First of all both games were developed by ISI , F1C 99-02 was in fact one of the best earlier F1 sims, so in rFactor you will feel right at home, rFactor is one of the most heavily modded games of it's type for sure, but to be honest there is a lot of garbage out there in the way of mods, be careful what you download.

rFactor is one of my favourite racing games of all time , to be honest it does not need any mods, just driving the game is an absolute pleasure.. I prefer quality over quantity and sure there are some really nice mods out there but you will need to dig through them to find anything that is close to the quality of the vanilla game.

My advise play the game without mods at first , if you feel the need to have more content then only download the very best stuff..from the best sources.. don't download from any old site use well established sites such as rFactorcentral etc ..

I used to have tons of mods for rFactor but now I run the game vanilla.. no more game breakers for me :D

If your on a tight budget check it out here ... https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/born-2-race-2-bundle

Thanks! This is great information. About mods- i'm not the type of gamer that is crazy about installing every mod i can for content. I'm sure I will like the vanilla game a lot. For mods I really want is to have a game like F1C, but newer (rFactor will offer improved graphics - physics, and hi-res modes.)

Hi, I'm a player who still plays rFactor and occasionally F1 C 99-02 as well. Like the users mentioned above, download mods only from rFactorcentral as they are of godo quality. Some of the mods I recommend are CTDP 2005, CTDP 2006, MMG 2007, FSOne 2008, FSOne 2009. There are good older mods such as F1 SR 1992, 93, 94 (The name might be slighty wrong). There is a very good 1986 or 82 turbo mod, awesome physics. Again, please pardon me if the year is wrong.

Thanks bud, I'll check them out. I hope I can find the years in between 94 and 2005 also :D

I really like the BMW Sauber 2007, I got some custom skins so that there's variety on the grid when watching replays. I got a F1 2006 trackpack on rfactorcentral.com, as well as bunch of other F1 tracks from other seasons. I don't care much for a proper career or specific seasons, I just pick a track and play single race weekends.
