How do I install the HistorX mod?
Pre-steam the way to install a mod was to have one install *per* mod, which meant multiple installs on your PC. It just made things easier. I assume that's not possible with steam?

So how so I go about installing the HistorX mod, which is a huge mod that will completely take over my installation.

Can I have multiple installations now?

Also I couldn't find the steam workshop for rFactor. It's not in the menus that I can see unless I'm being dumb.

Thanks. :steamhappy:

since steam has taken over the rights to this game, they should alllow us access to the light installler, since that was the best way to installl mulltiple mods without confict. i too am running historx mod and am not about to mess it up. however, i have a couple of the olld F1 mods which I am dying to run also. i think i have the old 1255 lite installler and am wonderingi if i installl it, woulld it validate itsellf like the old one would since we allready haave a legal full full install from steam. If not, we are being ripped off, unlless steam provides an alternate method of granting us the ability to have multiple installs. even with just historricx installed, if we put all the tracks in it we want to race on, it will eventuallly slow the game down.

i have discovered how to make copies for offine use only to install mods, so i am very satisfied. you can just create a new folder, calll it the name of the mod u wish to installl, then copy and paste your entire(unmodified) rfactorr installl from steam into this new mod folder. Install your mod. then edit config.ini file entries to point to this new follder. next check mod rfm file to make sure nothing there is pointing to original steam version. then create a desktop shortcut and edit the target path to point to new mod folder exe. I tried it this morning and worked perfectly. you can not play online as it wont use the steam cllient

To play rfactor 1 online standalone NOT use Steam can be done.

by use rfactor lite install is it possible to install unlimited installs
and servers i have some years back test to host 30 dedicated servers no problem do that
but if all servers have for example 10 drivers x 30 servers = 300 people the host must have good upload speed rf1 can be edited to save GB off tracks if people or leauge wanna use several installs =servers by edit location folder in the file Config.ini TracksDir=GAMEDATA\LOCATIONS\

so host can pick many different tracks then have same tracks in 10 rf installs folders !
