vROV Pilot: TITANIC

vROV Pilot: TITANIC

Gameplay/game improvements suggestions
I will make this thread to add suggestions of things to improve as I explore the game, and also have pleople come in and add their own suggestions.

There should also be an option to turn off the UI.

Customisable video settings, resolution, sharperning etc.

Customisable keybindings, I for one can't play with WASD controls, only arrow keys.

Let us input the camera sensitivity ourselves. Using the arrow as it is currently we get random numbers and it is very hard to set a specific camera sensitivity.

Have the camera move with the ROV, while also letting us control it like it is now. If we turn the ROV too much to one side the camera stays still and we see its sides/arms.

There should be an option to turn off ROV damage, even on easy I accidentaly bumped into something and destroyed the ROV instantly, needing to restart the game again, meaing we have to go all the way back to where we were around the wreck, which can lead to frustration if it happens often.

Currently, every time we restart, the mouse sensitivity resets.

It would be nice to have an option to speed up the gameplay, maybe a separate free roam mode, I think it would help people who have limited time to explore more of the ship faster.

Expading on the idea above, in the "free roam mode" we could have more freedom with the camera, get even closer to certain objects, or get creative with the camera in order to take more interesting screenshots.

It would be nice to have an option to download the full resolution version of the scans, or options in between, say 25%, 50%, 75%. I have seen other games have this sort of system implemented, letting the player decide whether to download higher resolution models/textures or not.
Returning to the ROV damage option, people will not know what areas can be explored or not, and will try to enter places that might not be possible and damage the ROV in return and need to start all over again. I for one tried to enter the A Deck promenade through one of the areas where the windows are no longer present, not only I have seen that there is nothing there (the promenade isn't there neither the walls of the exterior of A Deck, I tried backing off and exit and I destoryed the ROV in return.
This is more so to do with the Steam page rather than the game, but it also applies to the game. There is a lack of consistency with the game name. On the Steam store the game title is "vROVpilot: TITANIC", which is also on the cover art. On the Discussion page, the game is called "Magellan Ocean: Titanic 24", and in the Steam library the game is called "Magellan Ocean: Titanic 24" but with the "vROVpilot: TITANIC" cover art, and in game it is called "vROVpilot: TITANIC".

Maybe change the name to Magellan: Titanic Exploration? I think it would be easier and much better suited for the game.

Make it so that we can also move the ROV sideways, not just forward and backwards, It's hard to move around the side of the hull facing it. This is where customisable keybinds would really help. map sideways movement to a set of keys and steering to another set.

Add a game save mechanic, so we don't always start far away from the ship.
Please make the explorable area behind the bow bigger. I find it extremely strange that we start so far from the wreck, and yet when we go to the back of the ship to see the boilers we get the constant annying "Excursion Limit Reached" even if we are right up against the ship.

Please make it so we can disable that laser thing that is constantly on the screen, or just leave the simple + pointer that is aleardy at the end of it in order to not be so distracting.

I don't see the point of having 2 controllable ROV's if we destory one of them and then have the Restart button on the screen forever even if we are using the other still functioning ROV.

Please let us turn of the ROV's light, if we want to view something from up close the object becomes way to bright to see anything, since there is no zoom function there is no other way to view things from up close.
One of the mission objectives is to "Locate the Lounge Dome Cover" no such thing existed. The Lounge didn't have a dome, it had a chandelier and the area around it served as ventilation, that is why there is a ventilator right in the middle of the raised roof of the Lounge

Better turn it off completely. I hate that laser.
I would say that when the stern is added it should be at a higher resolution as default. Since it's so incredibly damaged there isnt't much to be recognized on it if it's not high resolution
To both echo and expand on some of what you've said...

Graphics/UI:
- More robust and linearly customizable graphics options, including:
.....• Underwater visibility distance slider
.....• Underwater brightness slider
.....• Customization options for resolution, vsync, AA, etc.
.....• Ability to play borderless windowed
.....• Ability to change shader model independent of other graphics options
- UI on/off toggle switch

Control / Gameplay Changes:
- ROV thruster strafing mechanics using Q and E (having to rotate all the time using A and D gets annoying)
- Remappable buttons
- Ability to have tether cut or tied in realistic mode

Besides strafe, tilt fore and aft would be nice to have, and actual six-axis control would be even better.

When piloting in first person view, it would be nice to be able to swap to the other cameras (particularly the side-facing utility cameras) that are on the real Magellan Argus Worker XL ROVs to help maintain situational awareness without having to switch to third-person view.

It would be nice if at realistic difficulty we would have to deal with the currents at the wreck site. I know the real ROVs have station keeping and other autopilot functions, but no current at all feels a bit too easy. Likewise, tether management is a key part of real ROV operations, so it feels weird for it to be largely absent in the realistic difficulty. (Maybe a separate control van difficulty for us weirdos who would want something closer to an ROV study sim.)

Free-roam should be a separate mode accessible from the main menu.
Having played it a bit more, a zoom function would be a nice to have.
