Main menu has no exit option?

At the main menu, there seems to be no "exit" or "quit" option. Why? I had to tab out, right-click the game icon and select Close. Also, hitting ESC at the main menu should try to close the game.

There are similar problems in-game. Hitting ESC in-game should bring up some kind of menu allowing the user to quit the game. Instead I'm supposed to hit ENTER and program sys_exit(); That's non-intuitive.
