Ice Caves locked Chest

I cant seem to open this chest even though i have lockpicks. I slide it like i do with other doors/boxes and it wont recognize the lockpick. Anyone know how to open this chest?

it needs to say "you cannot pick that lock" or such, or you didnt do it correctly,
the mechanics of the drag to effect is a bit wonky

btw this map is NOT the ice caves
just fyi to the OP and others

ice cave is the bear quest boss.. from the cliffs random quest.
ice shrine is a better term, and yea I tested that , picked the lock myself on every play.
but again might be worth checking out if its dragging and dropping


bottom line, if you drop the lockpick you didnt pick correctly even if you have done so on other chests

some are fickle and really, are kinda hard to pick as the chest is in an odd location
so

1. go near the chest.
2. make sure to drag and use the lockpick on the chest (it will turn the chest GREEN before you let go of the drag
2a if it doesnt turn green you arent connecting with the chest texture and tile
2b if you drop the lockpick you didnt do it correctly
2c if a chest cant be picked, like in the vault for the real or fake crown, it will give notice that you cannot pick this lock,

im not suggesting anyone is stupid or anything, I myself had this issue on a few chests which contain almost NOTHING good literally...nothing worth the hassle anyway.

but thats besides the point.
try to make the chest green with drag and drop, and see what happens.

also make sure if other items or bodies are around it, to loot them and get rid of the names, or press tab to remove names from the chest etc

or turn on names so you can see the chest tile better, try both ways and let us know

It doesnt work.And the cave Im talking about is the quest where you go into the cave and look for an item for the chief. You go into the icy cave and theres a dead end where theres a chest that you cant open no matter what you do. I even restarted the game 3 times and tried it again. Ive opened every other locked chest in the game with scrolls except that one because somethings wrong with that chest.

are you getting the "i cant pick that lock" message? is the chest turning green?
if no message, then .. doing it incorrectly

and again the ice cave map, isnt the shrine map, totally diff but both have ice (but the real name of the bear map is ICE CAVE hence the confusion)

but yeaaa..
if its at the dead south west bottom right ish,, then yeaaaa
again only 2 chests and a few doors have been unable to be picked, and those have keys
but if you dont see that message.. "i cant pick this" then.. you dropped the lockpick

either way @dev could you, look into this? ive not had issues with it..
maybe I find a key each time but doubtful.
using the pick works for me mates.
and others, just seems wonky this one.

Thanks for all the input but at this point I can only conclude that there must be some kind of glitch that is preventing the lockpick from working. It would be great if a dev could take a look.

I tried moving the mouse pointer everywhere within several inches of the chest, standing in different positions, with item labels both on and off.
If I'm holding nothing the cursor turns blue when it's over the chest, meaning you can interact with it. Clicking gives 'this item is locked'.
If I'm dragging a lockpick, the cursor never turns blue. It's as if the chest isn't there.

the chest should turn a green color. not just the blue..

SparkleFace, can you email your saves to [e-mail] ? We've had reports that people are having trouble lockpicking that chest, but we can't reproduce it here. I'm hoping that if I load your save the bug will happen, so we can debug it. No idea why that one chest would have problems, it's very strange!

We were able to debug this issue thanks to SparkleFace for sending me his save. It is caused by the giant's body being too near the chest! We'll have a fix for this in the next patch, but if you do run into this you can work around it by loading a save from before you killed the giant and just making sure he dies a bit further away from the chest.
