Sword, Bow, or Wand ?
Hi to all. :ss13ok::cybereye:

I've just started playing Ember & i chose the Sword to begin with, but i'm wondering if that was the best choice.
What does everyone else choose, & what are the advantages/ disadvantages of each weapon choice?

Thanks in advance for any & all answers. :ss13ok::cybereye:

It is good choise. You get to play tank with your main char and don't need to move him back every time you start a fight. Disadvantage is that your first assist char is also melee by default, but it's not big deal really. Weapons seem pretty balanced for me, so I don't think it really matters that much what class you play.

@ Straychild: Yeh, i get what u mean about having to move back. I picked-up a Bow & used that for a couple of fights but didn't like how he'd move to melee range to shoot !?! Changed to the Mace with 2-Hit ability as soon as i got it.

I played through as a caster, and it is annoying needing to move your character back in almost every encounter. I think the best way to play the main character is building him like a paladin, minimal STR for equipment, then split the rest of your stats into INT and VIT and always use a helm skill with a heal ability.

You don't need INT, and you don't even need that much VIT. You can get greater heal on your INT char and just heal your main char with him. You need a lot STR , at level 9 gear you need 11 str, I think, so better go almost max str and just little bit vit. You can use vitality potions and protection potion ect, if you feel like needing more buff.

I guess coming from a min/max/logical standpoint, since the tank is only really meant to take damage, there is no reason to scale STR pass the needed amount for plate equipment. Your tank should only be spamming ground slam, and healing himself/party to min/max his capability. Your other two classes can be pure INT DPS/Healers with only the VIT needed for accessories.

The game is meant to be played however you want, so you can throw min/maxing out the window especially since the game is extremely easy even on the hardest difficulty.

My point was that minimun needed str is still more than vitality, so even with that you still end up with majority of stats on str and just little bit on vitality. I was playing with balanced str/vitality first but when I hit level 9 I didn't have enough str to wear the gear untill I got next level. I don't know how much str I will need when I hit level 17, but least I got it covered now since I'm not really leveling vitality anymore.

Also you need base str to equip the items, but you can buff your vitality by having like amulet and ring that give +hitpoints.

So there is no reason to allot attribute points to anything but strength?
EolSunder 2024 年 12 月 6 日 下午 4:48
if your a warrior, its mostly strength. A little vitality doesn't hurt but i only do 1 point of vitality per 3-4 strength. You don't need 2ndary stats on your character at all, just your main stat and maybe a tad of vitality. No dex or int on a warrior, no dex or strength on a mage, and so on. The best defense is a strong offense.
