Controller not being picked up?

I booted up the game for the first time and when i tried pressing keys on my keyboard it didn't work. i then looked at the store page and it said it only worked with a controller so i plugged in my controller and it still didn't work.
Anyone got a fix for me to try?

So Ive found that once you execute the app and it asks you about the controller-- after click OK do NOT touch your mouse anymore. It picked up my controller and worked fine, but as soon as I did anything with my mouse or tab out it was all ogre
