Great game - horrible ending (no spoilers)
I have to say, I was really into this game but I feel utterly ripped off with the abrupt ending. The best episodic (or multiple part games) manage to leave unanswered questions while also wrapping up the individual chapter.

This was just suddenly over and it made me mad, especially since who knows how long it'll be before the second half comes out. Not great planning on the devs' part.

Hi BMunchausen

Can we please NOT talk about the game ending (at least not in title) , not all of us finished the game yet.

By the way the sequel of this game is under development as Caraga said your questions will be answered.

Thanks

Wait, wait, wait!

You gave an example, that the best episodic games managed to leave unanswered questions.
And then you complain that questions left unanswered?

WHAT?

Ending is cool, underworld is waiting, its' enough to had goosebumps from coming adventures!

[KS Backer] I liked the whole game, except the abrupt ending. Leaving open questions is fine but it has to be well done, especially if the game is not advertised as being episodic. Unfortunately there is no sense of closure whatsoever. I hope a sequel will come fast.

Do not get upset, but the store page tells it is episodic in nature, that this is part one. I know, it could have been more obvious, as in the game being called "Dead Synchronicity, Part 1: Tomorrow Comes Today". I believe Deponia played also a similar trick. Unfortunately I have not done much research on the game and I have no clue if it is half game what we have here, or if there will be more parts than two.
Having said that, the only thing else to do is to wait until following part gets ready. I am getting used to that - KRZ part 4 and 5, I am waiting for your release!

Now, let me get back to a spolier-free analysis on the ending. In my opinion, the plot twist at the end of this part was telegraphed during the whole game. So it somehow was expected. Apart from this twist, I was given a lot of information in the least five minutes. At least the allegory was easy to understand, so it was not too bad. Unfortunately, I could not do anything with that information in this game. I fear I will forget about that soon, so *wink* *wink* I hope a "Previously, from part 1" scene plays at the start of part 2.

I know nailing down the ending is hard in any story, but in this part it feels like if had no focus. There is this plot twist and a short dream sequence that can fit into anything. What I hope is that the developers have a clear understanding on what they want to deliver, storywise. I am sure they know now if they are close to releasing or announcing a second part. However, this first part does not show that. And that is what I believe makes people dislike the ending. A cliché that could have been implemented is to give Michael a feasible purpose like "Michael needs to get to city B", and probably add a puzzle that involves stealing the motorcycle.

Anyhow, the journey is half the fun to get to the destination. I liked the game - not too obtuse puzzles. Although some small things could have been developed somewhat better - I am looking at you, irrelevant crystal shard! Yes, I know it has its use, but it does not feel like it is the best fit.

I think what was meant is the best serial episodes will complete an individual arc while leaving you wanting more in the overarching plot. Compare a feature film to 3 episodes of a serial drama. You couldn't end the film 1/3 the way through and expect it to feel like a complete episode.

Machete lives ended abrubtly too as far as movies go :)
i loved the ending to this game actually. It is full of mystery and suspense and sets it up well for part 2. Agree some of hte puzzles seemed to make little sense but overall not too bad.

Thanks for posting that OP. I was about to buy the game. I was just checking steam forum to see if there were any glaring issues, but I'm definitely staying away from it now. Pawning off a game as a full thing when it's just half the game is a crummy thing to do.

^its full game sized. 9ish hours for an adventure game. Its just that the story is ambitious, and they werent able to tell the whole thing on this budget.

This thread is over a year old with the dev promising to answer soon...still nothing....Very disappointing.

Game development takes time. They seem pretty confident on continuing the game, and I prefer finishing an episode on a high note (and what a hig note!) than a tepid dialog.
Kitty May 11, 2016 @ 5:56pm
I asked on Facebook and the reply was that there will not be a sequel.

Correction, the publisher doesn't have any plans for a sequel, but the developer does.
