GORN 2
Differences with Quest Standalone Version
Does anyone know what the differences are between the PCVR version of the game and the Quest standalone version?

Is it just better physics simulation, or more blood, smarter ai, fancier shadows? I haven't been able to find any statements on the differences.

i think your assumptions should be spot on. but you should ask yourself if you want to be able to play it anywhere or if you only plan to play at home. the first obviously would be the meta version, but if you want a more stable and pretty much better looking game, get the pcvr version.

Thanks for your advice! I ended up going with the standalone version. They looked pretty similar overall in the videos I watched. My main concern was if the AI was being dumbed down but it looks like the AI is just very basic all around.

I generally prefer getting single-player games and games with fancy graphics on Steam, but in this case I don't think I'm losing much going with the more convenient option.

you're welcome. have fun.

it might look a bit sharper and you might get more fps on steam, but the standalone games i played so far are pretty close to the pc versions. multiplayer games could be better on pc though, but that's not the case here anyway.

The Quest 3 using the ultra-low-end Adreno 740 phone gpu only has about 2 tflops (should have 3.5, but Meta crippled it to increase battery life) - while the recommended gpu for PCVR is the RTX 2080 with 10 tflops. The PCVR version should be massively enhanced and improved. Also UploadVR noted that the Quest 3 version has performance issues, while the PCVR version had none.

The Quest 3 version does not have dynamic shadows like the PCVR version - at least judging from vids, I have not yet bought Gorn 2, but real-time lighting and dynamic shadows seem to be one major difference - and then the res (you can also super-sample using PC to extreme res and sharp image quality):

Gorn 2 is just 2GB on the Quests, it's 2.5 times bigger (=5GB) for PCVR - thus many textures may have been improved.

The PCVR version has recommended hardware specs light-years beyond the bottom-end Adreno 740 phone gpu:

Recommended:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 11 x64 Bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-10600K / AMD Ryzen 7 2700
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: Geforce RTX 2080 / Radeon RX 5700 XT
DirectX: Version 12

Haven't played the quest three version. I am having issues getting the game to display without using the steam link application though.
