Then you can use Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead with everything.
This is called Arma 2 Combined Operations (Arma 2 + Arma 2 OA + DLC's).
You will not need to start Arma 2 again.
Edit: More info.
Yes, Arma 2 OA has a newer engine than Arma 2 with many improvements(detachable backpacks, FLIR[en.wikipedia.org] etc.)
Use Arma 2 OA to have the engine improvements and the Arma 2 content.

thanks so i dont need to worry about the others just start all my arma 2 games atleast once then just use OA from now on awesome ill do that.
At the main menu of A2OA, you will see logos for A2, A2OA, BAF, PMC and ACR.(bottom left of the screen)
If you don't see them, then click Expansions and make sure they are enabled.
But what I still do not understand is why I have ACR as a DLC inside A2OA, while BAF and PMC are listed as separated (standalone) games in my library.
Shouldn't they be listed as DLC of A2OA as well? Or is it just a bug? Can I just ignore and hide them, leaving only the A2 and A2O2 icons in my library?
Thanks!
start them atleast once. find out which one is the most recent and start it.. you should see the list of game sin the corner as i see them when i start OA.. they are all listed as seperate stand alone games in my library as well but they all kinda are the same game.. after looking over the games i realised private military came out later than OA so i start my game from that executable instead just because its later lol. all the games are listed under expansions and just need to be enabled. once started atleast one you no longer need to worry about the other expansions. so yea you can get rid of the rest
