New Arma 2 Server/Servers

Hello,

I run a small but somewhat successful community of Arma 3 servers and have been looking at the idea of starting one or possibly more Arma 2 Servers.

I never played this game, it was old long before I even knew about the Arma Series. So I am new blood.

What I do have going for me is I have been working in I.T. for 15 years and I have servers all over my house.

I have decided to start researching how to support these servers and wish to engage this community to find out what you guys loved back in the day and try to give you and new players the opportunity to enjoy that again.

I have a tremendous amount of talent already part of my community and we are used to solving problems and troubleshooting. However, that being said, this is also trying to resurrect something that has been getting lost to time.

I would love the opportunity to Speak with Server Admins of the days of ole or Hard core Arma 2 enthusiasts who wish to have the opportunity to return to some nostalgic game play.

of all that great list of servers that you see, none works.
Why?
Simple... because at the time years ago when gamespy stopped providing their matchmaking service this list was the option for people to have a list of servers to connect to, but what about this... this list It is not something automatic, it is a totally manual list, you add the data of the server in the list ip, port, etc and that's it, the maximum that this list can do is to see if the server is still online, simply check the ip of the server you added to see if it is online.

Obviously none of the ArmA2 servers on that list are online.

if you want to raise a server, it has to be an ArmA2 Combined Operations server, don't bother raising an ArmA2 Standalone or ArmA2 Operation Arrowhead Standalone server.

Currently 99% of the servers run ArmA2 Combined Operations, there are still some ArmA2 Operation Arrowhead out there.


EDIT: forgot to mention this...

ArmA Operation Arrowhead, was updated to work with SteamWorks, so the multiplayer works on steam like A3, ArmA2 Standalone did not update it, although its mp works by connecting by direct ip, obviously you have to know the ip.

So if you start an ArmA2 Combined Operations server you will see it in the server list.

You can see the list of ArmA2 OA/CO servers from the game itself, that list that you found years ago that no one updates.

Well a bit sad to see that, well thanks for the info. Kind of trying to find someone who has a bit of knowledge about the backend on the server. Seen some info about TADST but from what I seen it uses GameSpy. More research I guess

Hey I am super down for anything related to playing ARMA 2 with other people. I bought the game about 6 months ago and haven't played w a single soul! I tried to join the discord but it would not allow me to accept the invite. Any other way to get into contact with you or can ya help me with discord? I'm not extremely IT oriented.
