There is no difference between the two as far as having new locales or having something different that the mod doesn't have. The standalone does have better graphics and a improved UI though. That said, the standalone lacks many of the features found in the mod at the moment though I am sure that will change as the game progresses. At 4.99 for the Arma 2 combined operations package which also works with the Day Z mod! That is a deal I wouldn't pass up.

That's why I made this topic. I was hoping to get input from people who possibly have both and could tell me about the differences.

is it true the the MOD is still being worked on alongside the Standalone? Is it still being improved and updated?

I have the mod as well as the game, while the stand alone game is looking promising its still in early stages and lacks some features the mod currently has, i recommend buying arma 2 + OA to see if you like dayz because the mod is currently cheaper and more put together currently, id recommend the dayz mod to anyone and if you like it, itll help you prepare for the stand alone game, as for differences the mod has vehicles and a wider arrangement of guns, the current Standalone only has more meelee weapons and a large variety of clothes.

Well after trying to play for a few hours, the only thing I can say is that they all are not fun games at all.

Right now, the mod is just plain more fun. Given time, the SA will most certainly outdo the mod.

The mod is worth playing and I'd recommend picking up Arma 2 before you get the SA.

see now that sounds like some good old common sense

So, June 2017, after playing PUBG a LOT, I am thinking to buy DayZ SA or ArmaII DayZ mod.
Today, which of the two (SA or mod) is the better game? Are there any differences still? Thanks for your input.

way to bring back a thread from years ago

i lost the sense of fun in this game genre because im too busy to lose valuable time into THIS crap, so i dont have the ability to truly decide anymore, but i assume DayZ Standalone would be fighting off hackers much better than Arma2, and DayZ Standalone seems to have been improving in having more content, im sure alot of the newer content is broken, but the classic gameplay where you just use guns, run on your feet, and eat simple canned foods must be fine by now

I hear you. But I want to mix up my PUBG playing time with a similar game.
If not Dayz SA or mod, then what game is there to buy in the same genre as PUBG??
