Navy Field 2 : Conqueror of the Ocean

Why play this over World of Warships?
I've always been a hardcore Navyfield 1 fan. Ships and Aircraft were always fascinating to me.

However i've played this game before it came out on steam, and the grind was.. horrible. Ontop of that, world of warships is proving to be far bigger than NF2, with less grueling grinding.

I see lots of people complaining that their tier 4 ship is put up against a tier 10 opponent. I find that argument to be hollow. The vast majority of the time there is an ultra-powerful enemy, there is also an ultra-powerful ally, and usually multiple of both.

Except no. Because the matchmaker in this game stacks the sh*t out of games so you're often looking down the barrel of up to four T9-T11 BBs, CVs, and CLs while your strongest allies are maybe two T7s with maybe a T5-6 CV if matchmaker is feeling extra generous

Somehow I've managed to make it to level 85 without ever seeing that happen. Ever. And I check out the match up in detail every time.

Well, I like the game, but let's be honest - Captain NES is not lying. Those tier difference problems exist indeed, however they don't happen as often as he is saying.
Bullwinkle 2015년 4월 3일 오전 11시 37분
I've never played a patrol game or whatever you call it where people team up. I've heard those can be pretty bad. But I've never seen a problem in general games.

The MM issue is certainly a consistent thorn in the side, and one which will likely be addressed further as time goes on. For now, I'd argue that, platoons aside, the problem is greatly mitigated by the fact that the tier gap is not nearly as great in this game as it is in anything WG- or Gaijin-created. In NF, a tier IV is fully capable of sinking a tier IX under the right circumstances, whereas in those *other* games, you wouldn't be able to score a single point of damage simply because they're higher tier.

I don't know maybe its because of the time period I was playing in but I was getting into a lot of these fixed matches. I still have some of the screenshots my friends and I took. The reserve battles are the worst:

Lets play a game: guess which side won and guess who on that side got all the kills.

^^

That's a reserve battle. Those only happen when there physically aren't enough people queue'd to create a balanced normal match (minimum size 8v8). Those who get stuck in a reserve battle get compensated with extra exp and creds.
Captain_NES 2015년 4월 3일 오후 10시 49분
The alleged "extra exp and creds" for reserve battles hardly justify staying in them at all, especially if you're the ones getting ganked and if you're a sub or low tier DD/CV in that game you pretty much got zero. From my experience reserve battles are essentially powerlevel matches setup by the matchmaking system; lambs on one side vs pack of wolves on the other.

I rarely get them, so I can only assume you're playing during off-hours. And quite frankly, I'm not sure what else you'd like the MM to do. When reserve battles happen, that means there are so few players queue'd that it's a reserve battle or no battle.

Both games suck at the moment... even if NF2 will improve over the next 2 weeks (at least they promised so) it will be inferior to WOWS and WOWS is inferior in ALL aspects to even BSP (battle stations pacific) and this game is not realy what WW2 Naval fans should consider a good naval sim.... only thing we all can do is either hope for WT to actualy make their job decent or that the people on the world , especialy capcom and sega, revive japans greatest naval game to date : Naval Ops.

WoWs have a lot to work on, Thing i hate the most about Wows is how they combined the heavy cruisers and light cruisers into the same tech tree line. Navyfield 2 can put up good competition against Wows, some dont realize this beacus they think NF 2 is like NF-1, which is not, you can still be competitive with a free crew vs a paid crew unlike NF-1. To make NF2 more popular, they need to help the comunity with ingame mechancis like how Wargaming does with thier game to give the players and idea how the game works.

I think most don't play this instead of WoWS, but play NF2 as a timekiller untill WoWS is out. That said it is a very pleasant and fun timekiller :D

Grind out a tier 9 ship and profit, or don't. Cry about MM being broken instead and get no where progression wise. I dealt with the MM imbalance through KM CA line to t9, and yes it was terrible at times. It wasn't honestly as bad at all as you make it out to be, especially compared to some other games I could mention. If you haven't tried Archeage or Warhammer Online you honestly have no idea what PvP imbalance even means.

You should try doing the intended role of the ship you're captaining, you will find regardless of tier, you will accomplish more if you decide to do your actual job. Pretty much every game I watch tier 1-7 DD's shooting alphas at other boats instead of scout planes, or suicide charging BB's on a fail torp run.

TL;DR Do your job, and watch win % go up, Hit T9 and it gets easier.
