This might help with port forwarding and port triggering

Things you may need to setup:
Port Forward:
Port Trigger:
DMZ Host:

Let's start off with accessing your router!
In your start menu look for Cmd or Command Prompt and open it

At this point you should have a little black terminal window come up type in ipconfig /all

This will display lots of information look for the things listed below

1. Default Gateway
   
2. IPv4
   
3. DNS Servers

Now that you have these three things you will do the following:

1. Open your web browser
   
2. Search in the url bar your Default Gateway
   
3. Log into your router - If you have not accessed this before look online for the maker and model of your router they will have a default user and password to get into the router.
   * At this point I suggest changing the user and password of the router and keep it in a safe location.
   
4. Look for the settings that involve Port Forwarding &/ Port Trigger &/ DMZ Host
   

Now that you have found the Port Forwarding; Port Trigger; and DMZ Host you may try the following to get the server to respond.

Setting up port trigger: This normally works for me better than Port forwarding if available.
You will need to setup two port triggers:

1. One for TCP
   Here is what you do to setup the TCP port trigger *Note all of these may not apply*
   
   1. Set all the Trigger&Target: Start & End Ports to 12567
      
   2. Set the Protocol to TCP
      
   3. Some routers allow description features name this like TitM TCP
      
   4. Set Enabled to on
      
   
   
2. One for UDP
   Here is what you do to setup the UDP port trigger
   
   1. Set all the Trigger&Target: Start & End Ports to 12568
      
   2. Set the Protocol to UDP
      
   3. Some routers allow description features name this like TitM UDP
      
   4. Set Enabled to on
      

See if you can run your server and have people connect to it at this point mine works fine without using port forwarding with this function.

If your router has a DMZ Host setting and doing port triggers is not enough you may have to
set the DMZ Host to your ipv4 address.

Setting up Port Forwarding: From my understandment

Be very careful when using DMZ, this will open up everything. I do not recommend it.

Some will not allow you to host without it but thanks for the warning. and your welcome Studge I only know how to do it with windows but it is a pretty straight forward walkthrough to the best of my ability.
