Starting problems
Hi,

a few days ago I bought and installed Venetica on my laptop, but when starting it, the mouse won't react. So I did some resertch regarding the problem and learned that it helped some users to start the game with administrator's rights and the compatability pack XP. Since I can't do that starting the game via steam, I started it locally from my computer with said adjustments. Unfortunately the game doesn't even start like this and says something like: The program cannot be started because Pina3Core.dll is missing on the computer. Reinstall the program to remove the error. So I googled for this problem as well and it said I should make sure that the file is at the right place. I did that and is where it should be. So now I'm clueless as to what the problem really is and how I can fix it.
I hope you can help me?

Greetings,

Jasmin Furche

PS: I'm using Windows 8.1 (unfortunately -.-) and fulfil the minimum and recommended system requirements, only with the graphic board I'm not sure, mine is Intel(R) HD Graphics Family.

There is no problem with Windows 8.1 and Venetica. It starts right out of the box (download), no further adjustments are necessary to play the game.

I have Win 7 and like several other people on the forum the game will not start. First it complained about PhsyXLoader.dll but I found the MSI for PhsyX even though I already have the current version. Installed that but no matter what compatibillity setting I use it will not run

OK, so I had a couple of issues working against me. Apparently one of the other games I had played before attempting to run this may have played into it. Once I rebooted the game ran for me, but I did a few things so I am not sure which one corrected the issue.

I will mention them here for the benefit of Jasmin in case it will help, but there is pretty much the same info in another thread.

Start fresh - that is from a fresh reboot start Steam but do not play anything. Go to the steam folder (see other threads) and look under the Venetica folder for bin/release where you will find Venetica.exe. Right click on it and select create shortcut. This will let you make some config changes that cannot be made within Steam directly.

Windows will create a shortcut file (I am on Win 7). Then right click on the newly created shortcut and select properties. You should have a compatibility tab. Select the Run as Admin check box.

Try launching the game by using the shortcut not the EXE. If that works then you should be good to run it from Steam (the shortcut still uses Steam I believe). If that doesn't work, then on that same tab you can use the run as if you are Windows XP, for example. I have XP (Service pack 3) selected I think.

Hope that helps a bit.
