The only thing I can think of that might make a difference is an online connection. Nameless, I believe, needs to quickly check in with the server to boot up (as well as per chapter/load). The demo might not have that requirement. It's an anti-piracy measure.
Also, if you've a firewall or anti-virus running, make sure it's not stopping the game from working due to this.
I... really, really hope this helps!
I started from the beginning once again. This time I didn't delete the demo. However, no I can't play the demo anymore and the game itselfis the same as always. I get to choose the setting and after clicking on "play", black screen.
I use a Lenovo G500
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel(R) Core (TM) i5-3230M
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon Graphics
There hardly had been a game that I wanted to play that badly. I would really wish for someone who would take me seriously and help to make the game working.
It could possibly be related to your steam client. I know I haven't updated my client in months (hehe so terrible) and my game runs fine, even though I bought it around the same time as you.
Make sure you're not running the beta client, as well.
I'm not a computer magician, but here are the next things I would try if I were in this situation:
Try running the game from your computer rather than via the steam client. It's a stretch but worth trying I guess. Go to your Steam program folder (From the hard drive (C:, D: whatever), find the Steam folder, then steamapps, common, Nameless and find the Nameless application file and double click that to run.
You can also try right-clicking that application and going into properties, then Compatibility, then checking the box labelled "Run this program as an administrator." Save the settings and try running it again. There is also a compatibility mode but I don't think this is an OS compatibility issue, but you can try messing with that too if you want.
Make sure no unnecessary programs are running at the same time, in case it's some kind of conflict with another program. If you want to be really thorough, you can use selective startup to temporarily halt all unnecessary programs from even starting on a reboot. To do that you run or search from the windows menu "msconfig" and it'll open System Configuration, go to the Services tab, check the box "Hide all Microsoft Services" and then Disable All. I've never done this for a game, lol, only for other troubleshooting. But if it doesn't help you can just open this again and re-enable everything and reboot.
Make sure all your stuff is up-to-date. Not just steam and the game, but other things too like video card drivers, Java, Adobe, like everything. Again, not a computer magician, so idk which of these, if any, would affect it. But just make sure everything you can think of is up-to-date. XD Install those Windows updates everyone leaves backlogged forever. Some of them will be compatibility-related as programs are updated for newer OSes.
I hate to mention this, but if you have ever cracked a Cheritz game (I'm not sure this is even possible but there are a lot of magicians out there) remove all traces of that from your computer.
And just to reiterate what was said before, you need a persistent internet connection for these games. I think. Temporarily disable all firewalls and anti-virus programs to ensure they aren't interfering. Sometimes old/outdated antivirus programs will even think a game .exe is a virus. Don't leave this stuff disabled; do it for troubleshooting purposes only.
It's okay for me now. I wrote to chertiz they said the servers were down during the weekend and thats what was causing the issue.
I was having a similar problem (Dandelion worked but not Nameless, which just refused to pop up at all) and this fixed it! Not sure if this is a server issue like others suggested but I had trouble today and today is when I wanted to play it, lol.
Other stuff I tried which is easily found on google: repairing Steam Service, making sure Steam Service is set to run on startup, checking file integrity, and redownloading a couple times.
Finally I tried this solution, and I made sure to right-click and run as administrator, and that is what finally worked. I'm currently looking into making that happen automatically, and google is helping me there as well.
Just giving a full explanation in case anyone else ever has this problem!
