Barrier Tower

So I got Mage Clearance and teleported to the Barrier Tower and met Pyrn and his duplicate. I have gotten the Dispel Barrier L3 spell from there. I still have some questions though:

1. Is there a way to save Pyrn from the demons? Right now he dies whatever I do.
   
2. How do I complete the "Pyrn's Portal Lessons" quest? Mahdavi do not recognize that I have been to the Barrier Tower (regardless if I kill Pyrn and the demons or not).

You have to ask pyrn about the red book in the bottom left of the shelves. Check the books around the shelves

What if I already broke Pyrn's ritual and he s no longer there, but I did not learn level 3 dispel Barrier yet. Am I screwed(I am really far into the game now).

1) Afaik you don't need L3 at all.
2) You can still read Pyrn's book. But you will need a higher AL value.
3) By meeting Aimee (in the vicinity of the Empire Archives) you will be taught another Dispel Barrier level.

Ok, so for those of us who still don't get it: do I or do I not break the circle and free the demon? Kiiiinda confused on that part.

For the quest and the game progress in general it doesn't matter whether or not to free the demon. Just make sure to talk to Pyrn before you do.
