It was written for the first Drakensang game, but since the rules are the same everything is valid.
In addition the game is very easy at that point. If you find it too hard for you than decrease the difficulty setting in your options menu.
.
If you want to replay the game, you basicly need other party members.
I always play mages in games, so did with the first Drakensang. for the second I decide to do not reading on the net to prevent spoilers and made an amazon. Now I have to choose between the mage and ranger while wanting them both and no alternatives.
Yeah I agree there is not much choice here but I guess it was due to the fact that they went bankrupt shortly after they released the game which means during development it already was financially very tight. So they couldn't put any working hours in fancy additions like party members.
So if you really want to experiment you have to do it as a mod:
The game files are easily accessible. All relevant data are stored in sql files. Download a free sql lite editor and change the existing party members to whatever you want. Of course they will still look like Cano/Forgrimm and have their dialogue. But you can make Cano a Warrior and Forgrimm an elven girl. You need to know about the rules, though. That is because a lot of the values like base attack and base parry are values which are calculated - but of course not during you edit a sql file. These values are in the sql files as absolute values and changing them should be done by using the rules.
Regarding the girl. If she is still a ranger than she cannot learn the human mage spells from a trainer in game.
