The Different Intro's
Even though I'm playing the DLC version (Phil's Secret) I'm putting this here since it applies to both. Also I know they're the Complete Training Quest's, but Intro works for me.

I loved the fact that you got 3 different starts based on your class (OK 4, but I'm not going to do the Geode) so I thought I'd go outside my comfort zone and make a character for each and here's just some short observations.

Just to add, I entered in the Enter Code items so all characters got the fancy leather armor, sword and rings which allowed me to expand how I played them. I also broke all boxes I could and raided the craft chests.

Fighter: I picked a Warrior so the extra's didn't really change her too much. I really liked the night patrol mission, thought it fitted in quite well. The toll gate part was kind of ho hum, standard fare. Ended up coming up with around 70D total, but not alot of AP's to really do anything big.

Thief: I picked a Rouge and used the extra's to convert her even more so into a Fighter / Thief. The thief's test down in the cavern was too short, should have been more like the one in Drakensang: The Dark Eye. The warehouse was ok, interesting to see that situation from both the Fighters side and the Thief's side. The follow mission was OK, but after the fight had a hard time finding the traps to follow. Perception was up pretty high, but didn't seem to help there or in the Worthwhile house you go to loot. Kind of a design flaw in that as a starting character, you'd think the tasks would be closer to what you're taking into the quest. Had boosted pick pocket skills so between that and the boxes I brought in 125D. AP's were on the slim side here too.

Mage: I went with a Healing Mage and pretty much turned her into a lite Battle Mage armed with the sword. Training was OK, nothing special, would have been nice if all the wolves gave AP, but with the big AP's you got at the end of each 'test' it would have just been being greedy I guess. The Training for Mages give the best AP of the set, I'd been spending as I went along but still came out with over 350AP's, enough to do some of the big increases, plus fill in the others too. Plant and Animal lore came in handy here with that and the boxes giving me around 90D.

Maybe I got spoiled with Drakensang: The Dark Eye as the AP's came quick and easy, but I think RoT is pretty tight with giving them out, atleast at the beginning. Ducat's aren't too hard to get, but there's not a lot to buy at the start.

At this point I'm leaning towards running my Rouge through the game as my main. I'll probably use my fighter to see how the Thurston Tollgate goes just to compare it with doing it Cano's way, then shift back to my Rouge.

Onward!

Yeah I've done all of them, including Geode, although I haven't had the time to beat the whole game with all of them.

One interesting thing with the thief is you can pickpocket all the people you meet early on. Try the fishmonger who is immediately to the right when you step off the boat.

Got her first thing after I awoke on the dock. Getting the magic knife drove my choice of the ranger girl for my companion after I had Jaakon ID it for me. Between that at 1D+5 and my 1D+3 sword the early fights went well.

Just like in the first Drakensang, I used my thief to loot everyone we met. Good way to boost funds.

Well Thurston Tollgate is behind me.

Cano's path via the dungeon was the harder one. My group was Cano, my Rouge and the Elf Ranger. For once the GameBanshee walkthrough was lacking. Not only were certain parts unclear, but other's were just wrong. I wasn't able to loot either of the chests after breaking the rat boards. Tried, but in the end I just had to get to safety and take off right after the dog passes. Granted by the time I finished and was outside again I'd gone up a couple of levels and did come out ahead on the cash side.

Forgrim's fight: My group was Forgrim, my fighter and the mage guy. Pretty straight forward - kill everything you find. Not as much AP or loot this method. Only got 1 level out of it and about 50D less than above.

According to GameBanshee after you kill the 2 guards at the top of the stairs before going in to see SB there's another door that will lead to another chest. Wasn't able to get it open with either of my 2 groups, not sure what's up with that.

Now back to Town to spend some AP's.

I have no idea how you're supposed to sneak past the giant guy, I always just killed him. BTW one weird thing I can say is that Cano's Seduction works better than if you have it on someone else. He gets automatic successes at some points where others have to roll dice. I'm not sure who women can seduce though, I'll try that at some point.

With the orge guy you disable the first 2 traps and then go around to the right and duck around the corner. He'll come to check the traps and head back down towards where you started from. As soon as he starts down, you start sneaking across to the 3rd trap part. If you make it all the way to his room without getting caught it's worth 100AP. Everything in there is just sooooo close on the timing; start just after he turns corner, leave hide spot just after dog passes. Not alot of slop time.

I'm running women this time and used seduction on the crew to get them back to the ship.

I did try to fight the Orge guy a couple of times with Cano, my rouge and the ranger girl. Not a good fight team. Didn't think of it before, but if I would have run my fighter and the mage through with Cano, could have done the sneak act, got the max points for that and then go back in and kill the guy and his dog after the fact and loot all the chests etc... That way I'd get all the AP available, plus the loot.

Not sure if I want to create a new character just to try it though. Too bad after which ever route you do, you can't go back through the other to max AP's and loot.

With the exception of a different shield for my fighter, none of the loot via either route was game changing.
