Help with getting party members

Im trying to figure out how to get Hellen And Roaches, how do i get the two? Also as someone who hasnt gotten perfect ritual, do i have to sacrifice my arm and keep the rat baby alive for perfect ritual?

Hellen is totally random, she shows up at your front door while you do things in the apartment that pass time. (games/shower/cooking/etc) It's chance based, I never saw her on my first playthrough, and my second I only found her 12/15 days in. Meanwhile my friend found her on day 2 or 3.

The roaches you get by having the roaches sneak into your pack while walking around then bringing them back home, you have to bring enough of them home to trigger the event, and also you have to be nice to them by petting them. They will eventually trigger an event in the bathroom when both of these conditions are met.

The perfect ritual does NOT require you to save your arm, OR save the baby rat. I killed the rat on my first playthrough and still got the perfect ritual. The only conditions are that you correctly deduce the visitor's depiction items, and that I believe all 4 of the prophets survival to perform the ritual. Oh and that you don't "accidentally" give the prohets a certain item instead of one of the depictions. (That leads to two other potential, a very BAD endings.)

Easiest party members to obtain are the following: Leigh, Joel, Papineau, Phillippe and Rat Baby
RNG based ones: Dan, Sophie, Hellen, Xaria and Monty
S-tier difficulty RNG; Ernest, Norton, Roaches
> Homeless man Ernest requires quality expensive food third time he knocks in your door invite him in.
> Norton the scavenger is way easier to acquire, Have 16-20 pieces of Junk and he'll be excited to walk in your house.
> When you see roach in your inventory don't remove them immediately go back home soon they'll appear in your house start petting them in every room 3X a day, then start cooking food via oven and leave food on the table to rot eventually you'll have to sleep and the food will disappear after you awake the next morning. Repeat cycle till roaches start giving you notes

ok cool. I do have to ask though, how will i tell when i've brought enough roaches home?

They do multiply on their own, but you’ll know when they start giving you notes. I’d still bring more home whenever possible, though, just to ensure the infestation number stays high
