I find it kind of dumb your character is afraid of them, you've seen much worse just wandering around and Lyle is pretty nice.

i mean yeah, sam has seen weird stuff but that dosent mean he gonna used to it, we can see it when we fight against a big boss with the feeling of run away

Come on now, after fighting flesh abominations them being what is essentially a giant camera is really nothing at all. And should be completely expected at that point, you had plenty of hints with the clanking noises and kissing them.
