Basement too hard. help

HOW IN THE HECKITY HECK DO I GET TO THE ELEVATOR. Is it even real? Can you get to the elvator or is it bait??? I dont care about spoilers just save me the struggle

When you get to the basement you have to go all the way down until you end up in the sewage system, roughly two doors away from the entrance to the basement. From there you have to look for a lever to pull, it's in the rightmost side of the sewers, that'll open a passage on the opposite side of the entire sewage system... It will take you a bit to find it perhaps, but you'll get there eventually. Once you get to a place where there's a bunch of mutants just hanging around, go all the way up and find the astronomer, if you proceed to the left you'll get to the garage and soon enough to the elevator
