Sewer Furnace and Ticks

Is there a point in killing all the ticks in the sewers for the pipes to turn red? Is there a point in killing the furnace in the center?

Same, I didn't even realize I'd have to fight the furnace until I walked into it. I kinda thought maybe it'd be cool I helped it lol

Yeah, I was confused too since it takes a lot of work and...there is no reward at all. I thought maybe there would at least be some new dialogue from the guy who got fused to the boiler and talked about the furnace going rogue. I mean, it does contribute to your points at the end

Looks like it's just an optional boss as are many others, so you don't have to do it if you don't want to.

As of 1.02, there's a new reward called "Furnace Edge" for killing the Furnace. It's a fire based weapon that increases melee to 57.
