Do you also feel this way about Fear & Hunger's save systems via books of enlightenment, beds that feature dice rolls if even one enemy is alive on the floor you're on, and sigils (Termina only)?
There’s no reason there should only be two saving options: a) When the game decides, after completing some obscure test. b) At any time (as you mention).
Here the developer said that “in harder difficulty […] you can only save in your apartment by talking to your neighbor (the eye in the wall).” But the eye in the wall is not showing anymore after one hour of game play.
Not giving any hint about how to save after an hour of gameplay is clearly a design mistake. The same thing happened to the OP.
Totally, because absolutely everyone has to play *Fear & Hunger* in order to post a Steam comment.
