Nope it's Mick Wingert.. Although they do sound alike.

He's listed in the credits

I actually find it a bit creepy that they've not just tried to make a character that sounds like Jack Black, but try to copy his mannerisms, his "rock" persona and (to a degree) his physical appearance.

If they want the character to be Jack Black, why not just hire Jack Black?
It's not like Jack Black played the character originally elsewhere and they need to emulate it on the cheap.

If it's a money/availability thing, I get it. But it doesn't make it any less weird and creepy.
Reminds me of the end of Dead Island 2 trailer.

Yeah but at least Jack Black done the original voice for the movie beforehand. Hiring a mimic for lesser productions and spin-offs like video games and mini-series is fine that case.

Jack Black has nothing to do with Dead Island historically, yet they are trying to insert his likeness into the series in a very strange way and with little reason.

It just has a very weird and strange air about it.
Check out new Jack Black flick "D-train" it will rock you so hard you will be hurting in the morning. Bernie has nothing on the dark hole this movie goes into.
On topic: They wanted to appeal to aging metalheads that dig retro graphics. Comes off tacked on and cringy.

Not to mention Dead Island suffers from "The Evil Dead syndrome" in which the series becomes less serious, sillier, more slapstick comedy and less about horror as the franchise progresses.

Saints Row did it too. Seems to be a Deep Silver trend.

Oh for sure! And me too! (Though I took a hard pass on Saints Row 4).

But I dislike it when the series wasn't brought to popularity for that reason.
It would be akin to making a new Hostel or Saw movie, and turning into an animated romantic comedy.

A lot of the time series like Saints Row and Dead Rising start of with a good thing going, then abandon ship, toss it out the window and start snorting substance. All the while my arms are open and my jaw swinging in the wind as my internal dialogue screams "WHYYYYYY!?"

For me, Saint's Row 4 is way better than 1-3... so if it's done right, even if it gets more comedic or crazy, more power to them.
