Controller
It doesn't say anything on the Store page but I want to make sure: can this be played with a controller?

Yes, but you'll have to make it emulate a keyboard or wait until it gets patched.

You still can, but it'll take some time to set everything up

I'm not enthusiastic about using third party software, modding etc. I like to keep things clean and simple where possible.

You could try the "beta/alternative" version of the game currently available. It runs on a newer engine, that should fully support controllers, but it's still under testing. Follow these steps to try:

That's awesome! I'll take my chances with the beta thing. Thank you both!

Edit: this isn't available on GOG Galaxy, is it?:D

I've tried it myself and it works with my XONE controller out-of-the-box.

The buttons should work this way:
X for interaction/confirm
B for back/cancel
Analog sticks for movement and menus

I don't think it is because GOG doesn't support beta patches at all. But the game is DRM-free, even in its Steam version, so if you manage to get the update, it should work with the GOG version too.

I see. I'll look into that, then.

Thanks for the advice, but experience has taught me that keeping only necessary software on my PC contributes to better performance in the long run, so I'd rather wait for official support.

Controller companion is $3 on steam. Will fix ALL of your issues with rpgmaker games (or any older game really)
Tilen Dec 20, 2017 @ 6:27am
But mom, I don't want a controller companion. I've got enough friends already!
McShave07 Dec 20, 2017 @ 8:31am
why do people keep telling others to buy controller configurable software. You guys do know Steam has this built into it already?
