No upgrades for some weapons? an upgrade discussion.
When I fell in love with the breechloader I was saddened to see that it cannot be upgraded. Now I understand that some weapons are not upgrade-able (melee weapons, Mitrailleuse, Purifier, Laser Designator) but each of them are justified because they are upgraded in other ways, (melee weapons with the whetstone) Powerful and complex as they already are (Mitrailleuse, Purifier) and may not make sense upgrading (mines, Laser Designator and satchel charges) But the breechloader I feel like needs an upgrade.

If ever the Dev is listening I do want an upgrade to the breechloader and here are my suggestions below.

1. add the number of bullets that can be stacked (maybe make it +5 instead of only +3)
2. Stacking shots changes their behavior (+4 makes it a blunderbuss[shotgun like] +5 makes it a supershot [Makes it behave like a slug but a bit more powerful]
3. options to change the Bayonette to an alternative weapon (grenade launcher, grappling hook are good suggestions I think)
4. You can also change the spread pattern of the shot directly but it should also have a different stack level (+5 for straight shot +10 for spreadshot) with appropriate barrel wear of course.

I also have some upgrade suggestions for the other weapons.

1. Mines (make them behave like the Spider mines from Starcraft 1 [They walk and Home in if close enough to the enemy])
2. Laser Designator (Change the payload [ One super bomb or make it a supply drop])
3. Satchel Charges (Make them sticky bombs that you can manually detonate [Useful for luring melee enemies into groups of other enemies])

I also want to open this discussion to the current weapon upgrades in the game. One weapon I hope that can be changed is the Fusion cannon. Instead of holding to create a spread shot why not make it charge to a super plasma shot (Slug version of a plasma shot)

Just a rant from me but feel free to discuss what you think can be changed. and If the Dev may not be able to do it, You know what to do modders.

Personally I think an upgrade to change it from a Breechloader to a Bolt Action Rifle of some flavor would be interesting, it'd also allow for the introduction of stripper clips and it'd be another weapon using that specific type of action.

Spider Mines would need to not be triggered by things that are Hovering... Speaking of I'm going to off on a quick tangent about that because only like SIX units in Starcraft even HAVE that as as an Attribute and three of them are Workers, the other three are the two Archons and the Vulture.

Also to that Laser Designation suggestion... How about one Mega Bomb?

Also the alt-fire of the Fusion Cannon already does that if you hold it down long enough and have enough charge in it, it takes 20 charge per Overcharged Shot which a lot more punishing than the Halo CE Plasma Pistol's Overcharge for comparison which takes 11% charge per shot and you can use and replace it so easily that you'll never actually run out of ammo.

That sounds like a great idea. Convert the breechloader into a different action rifle, but it will just end up as an another variant of the carbine rifle or the whale gun (Lever action or bolt-action)

I think the Mega bomb Idea of yours will just be overkill but an interesting Idea and can be implemented.

If we were to use a mega bomb

1. It should have a global visual kill radius (you see it from anywhere in the map detonating you are dead)
2. It should have an absolute kill radius of 100 Meters (whether you are inside the building you will still be dead if inside radius)

With these attributes this will make the laser designator be used even if the map is designed to have a lot of interior spaces. (unless it is implied that the stage is underground which disables the weapon)

Thanks for letting me know about the charge function of the fusion cannon. Last i tested the weapon i think it just creates a shotgun of plasma bolts but will try the weapon again in the future.
The dev posted a new gun for the tank recently (though it might be visual only)

Hey, if an upgrade can change the alt-fire near completely why not have one change the main function of a gun?

The Mega Bomb idea was mainly a joke, but it'd be hilarious to see something actually like that... But DIVINE SKELETON DEATH BLAST is another hilariously insane idea but if I were to put forth something like that as a semi-serious suggestion I'd say have a beam come down from the sky and turn surrounding humanoid enemies into burnt skeletons in a say 30 meter radius and deal good damage to non-humaniod enemies.


I'd put a Mystery of the Druids joke here but Halligan stole it.

Hey so uh anyone else know that the Breechloader can gain durability like the Forgiver can?

Because you can press x on it while it's empty to regain durability...
