"A problem occurred with your display driver" issue
Every time after I load into the game, after about 5-10 minutes the game crashes and gives me this message:

"A problem has occurred with your display driver. Your system may not have enough resources to run the game at the selected settings. You can retry using the same settings, or adjust them to lower settings. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video hardware, and try rebooting your system to help clear up any issues."

I have a pc that is more than capable at running the game at max settings at 60fps (without msaa of course)

My specs:

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

Processor: Intel Core i7-4790k

Memory: 32 GB RAM

Graphics: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G (In SLI configuration)

So far i havent crashed after following DemonicWinna's advice.

"GPU processing time"

I'd feel better knowing what those regedits are actually doing. Maybe someone can explain, cause if i'm understating it correctly it kinda looks like it's increasing the delay response time, so the GPU is just being given longer to recover before windows steps in, or am I misunderstanding the TDR mechanism ?

I am not entirely sure what its doing precisely. Although it has not negatively impacted my FPS in any way. (i have an overlay running)

I also found posts that people have used this value in the past to fix game crashes (Battlefield 4 for example)
Still crash free. I recommend everyone to give this fix a go.

I'm willing to bet it's GPU processing time, try this.

1. Open regedit, then make backup (file>export>export range=all) and save it somewhere.

2. Browse to and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers

3. On the Edit menu, click New, and then select the following registry value from the drop-down menu specific to your version of Windows (32 bit, or 64 bit):

For 32 bit Windows
Select DWORD (32-bit) value.
Type TdrDelay as the Name and click Enter.
Double-click TdrDelay and add 8 for the Value data and click OK.

For 64 bit Windows

Select QWORD (64-bit) value.
Type TdrDelay as the Name and click Enter.
Double-click TdrDelay and add 8 for the Value data and clickOK.
Close the registry editor and then restart your computer for the changes to take affect.

This fix totally worked for me! I had this one conversation that no matter how I changed the graphics setting was crashing the game, and while it was laggy after the regedit, it didn't crash, so works for me!

I've got the crashing to stop, but still, after some time, the game gets laggy and it becomes difficult to enter/exit any menu. I'm almost sure of a memory leak, I hope the devs are.

Virtually same specs, tried you fix but to no avail unfortunately :(
I googled the error message and got another potential solution from another game.
It seems like the error message could be a result of the game not optimised for overclocked GPU even for factory OC cards like mine. My game is now crash free after I underclocked my card and increased power limit.
can confirm it at least ~seems~ to have helped the frequent "0x887a0005 dxgi_error_device_removed" I had been getting before trying the regfix. Got a whopping 45 minutes of playtime down until i got a non-specific CTD. So, improvements at least :steamsalty:

scratch that, seems to have made it LESS frequent, but still happening.
This issue occur more frequently on SLI spec use overwatch SLI compatibility bits. In 547.7, I crash about 2hours, but after game update to 547.10, crash about 10~20min, make game unplayable. I disable SLI or make SLI bits to default, game wont crash any more but fps is terrible.
Yesterday I use DDU to uninstall nvidia driver completely and install 372.54 again. I found game(547.10) wont crash frequently, I played 5hours and just crash 1 time, nearly like 547.7. So I think perhaps there is some incompatibility between game and driver, especially already update driver many times, I suggest to uninstall it completely.
I disabled SLI and haven't experienced a crash yet, I'm guessing SLI sptimization is crap. :)
I've had the same this same DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG error too that reports that there is a problem with the display driver and that there might not be enough resources, etc, etc. It has only happened twice in over 35 hours of gaming though but it's still annoying when it happens as the game has otherwise been stable.

I have an i7-4770K @ 4.0 GHz, 16 GB, EVGA GTX 1080 FTW (with 8 GB of VRAM) and play the game at maxed out 2560x1440 settings with MSAA disabled and Volumetric Lighting knocked down a notch from Ultra to On. Framerate is 60 FPS for 99.99999% of the time. The game is also installed to my 1 TB Samsung 850 EVO SSD.

Not sure quite how this game is running out of resources exactly when there's 8 GB of VRAM available but I have seen it use up to 7.6 GB of VRAM so perhaps there's a memory leak or a bug in the code that isn't freeing up the VRAM properly?

P.S. Using the latest v372.70 WHQL drivers for my graphics card and running Windows 10 Pro v1607 Build 14393.105 64-bit.

FWIW, I'm having the same issues here. Glad to know I'm not the only one. >.<
