Those items are useless anyway, it doesn't really matter.
Second paragraph.
It's one of the core features why I also like using Steam - the Cloud - besides backing up my stuff. And computers usually last 5~7 years.
Maybe the author of that review misunderstood a message that appears in a loading screen saying that if you uninstall an update your saves will no longer work. This is normal, sometimes when a game gets a big update you can't roll back to a previous version and continue your save because some features might not be compatible with the older version
Edit- Just to add that there was only that one ridicules thread and no actual outcry like there would have been had Square Enix actually tried to pull some BS like that. So anyone who was gullible enough to believe that for even a minute or two, I have a bridge to sell you.........SMH
I also have trouble understanding why companies would stupid things, but sometimes they do.
Did you use the one time only DLC, BTW?
I'm still interested because I wanted to get this game on this account (word/social/travel laptop where I spend most time), but I also already bought it on my other main account (dedicated gaming machine), with the 1 time use DLC. But I haven't been had time to enjoy it yet.
Yes I have the DLC and here is how I used the 1 time consumables. I took ALL the 1 time consumables as soon as I was able. Then I saved the game. By doing that I had a very early save with all the 1 time consumables (like praxis) to be used. I could reload that save and play it in a completely different style but I still had the use of all the 1 time consumables each and every time I loaded that save.
That's not how it works, but saves do get locked if any of the following are true:
1) you own one, two, or all three of the DLC missions. In this case, saves are now only compatible with installs of the game that mirror the install they were made for.
2) Epic saves sometimes don't work if put in the steam versions' save directory. I haven't messed around enough with the epic version to figure out the reason, and I doubt I ever will.
3) if you make a save in Criminal past after the midgame point when the riot's ongoing, and you don't move the pre-order 'elite' weapons out of the storage, that save can't be transferred for some reason.
'Locked' in this case is simply 'your version of the game is 1.x, and you're trying to play a 1.x save on a game that's been patched to 1.x2.'
Edit: I've played the game to death, over 5 different machines, and every single time I get a new one, I simply move my old saves over. Never had a problem.
Edit #2: the fact that we've always been able to do this is proof enough on its own that Denuvo simply doesn't do anything whatsoever in MD, as even saves are encrypted in most other Denuvo games.
